The Director will have major responsibility for programs aimed at improving outcomes for mothers, infants, young children, and families in all Los Angeles County (LAC) communities, especially in communities facing unequal access to resources critical to good health.DEFINITION:
Incumbents in these positions are licensed physicians that have immediate responsibility for a general or specialized health services program or directs a medical division in a County hospital.CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS:Formulates or assists in the formulation of overall policies and plans and directs the program and medical activities of a medical division of a hospital.Has responsibility for or assists in the administrative aspects of the division, including budget preparation and control, personnel functions, and procurement of equipment and supplies.Directs or assists in directing the training of interns, resident physicians, and medical and technical students.Plans, directs and supervises medical research and the presentation and review of findings.Examines, diagnoses, and prescribes treatment for patients on a consultative basis.Gives lectures and demonstrations to medical and nursing staff and medical and technical students.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Completion of a residency approved by an American Specialty Board in one or more designated specialties or equivalent; and two years of experience in medical practice, additional training, teaching, or investigative work.LICENSE:
California State Physician and Surgeon's Certificate authorized by the Board of Medical Examiners of the State of California.A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.PHYSICAL CLASS:
2 - Light: Light physical effort which may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit, and some bending, stooping or squatting. Considerable walking may be involved.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:Applicants must include a legible photocopy of the certificate of completion of a residency training program approved by the American Specialty Board and California State Physician and Surgeon's Certificate to the application at the time of filing or within 15 calendar days of filing online.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION:
Additional experience beyond the Minimum Requirements.EXAMINATION CONTENT:
This examination will consist of an evaluation of education, experience, and desirable qualifications based upon application information and supplemental questionnaire at the time of filing weighted 100%.Applicants must meet the Minimum Requirements and must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the examination in order to be added on the Eligible Register.ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION:
The names of candidates receiving a passing score in the examination will be added to the Eligible Register in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of eligibility.NO PERSON MAY COMPETE IN THIS EXAMINATION MORE THAN ONCE EVERY TWELVE (12) MONTHS.APPLICATION AND FILING INFORMATION:Applications must be filed
