ABOUT THE DEPARTMENTThe Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) partners with communities to protect and improve the health and well-being of Shasta County residents. Established in 2006, the HHSA is organized into four branches: Behavioral Health & Social Services, Public Health, Economic Mobility, and centralized Administration Services. The HHSA promotes optimal health for all.

ABOUT THE POSITIONUnder general direction, to plan, organize, and direct the activities of one or more major Mental Health Department divisions or the Division of Alcohol and Drug Programs, including treatment, financial compliance, and training responsibilities, and to perform related duties as required.

IDEAL CANDIDATEThe ideal candidate will have five (5) years’ experience managing programs in a public or private mental health/substance abuse/social service program providing supervision of unlicensed and licensed staff, as well as performing administrative functions. The ideal candidate has excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Experience working with children, families, and adults who are suffering from severe and persistent mental health problems and who may also have a substance use disorder is equally important.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Plans, assigns, directs, supervises, and coordinates the work of multidisciplinary staff providing mental health or substance abuse treatment, training, financial compliance, and/or quality assurance review;

Provides guidance to subordinates on departmental philosophy, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures;

Evaluates performance of personnel and recommends appropriate course of action;

Works with other public, private, and community organizations that provide health and human services;

Participates in relevant conferences and committees;

Evaluates overall activities of the division.
