We are in search of a Group Fitness/Personal Training Director, to lead a world class Group Fitness and Fitness experience for our members and guests.

Job SummaryTo effectively manage all group fitness staff, programs, personal training and services at Merritt Clubs in order to maximize group fitness attendance, member retention, club profitability, and new member integration.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Create Growth

in the Group fitness classes and Personal Training department by implementing strategies to maximize attendance and maintain appropriate levels of variety for members.

Measure

group fitness attendance and compare to weekly targets. Compare actual cost per head with budgeted cost per head, and track actual group fitness usage verse maximum group fitness usage using our Key Performance Indicators.

Manage and exceed

the group fitness/personal training budget by monitoring expenses, payroll, and income.

Recruit

World Class Instructors and Trainers. Implement a regular recruitment plan to ensure you find strong instructor talent.

Organize

Instructor/Trainer training by implementing continuous improvement for you and your team. Ensure and maintain current certifications of instructors by providing effective in house training.

Evaluate

instructors a minimum of once per year via video. Perform quarterly quality control checks by attending classes on a random basis.

Maintain

the functional requirements of a well-organized studio/fitness floor- cleanliness, maintenance, ventilation etc.

Plan

for success. Create monthly department plans and manage all actions required to secure your overall goals. Lead your team and club mangers to understand the contributions Group Fitness/Personal Training can deliver and motivate them to support the department to provide greater success.

Handle

any employee related issue in line with club guidelines. Manage any member complaints in a fair and reasonable manner.

Meet and greet

all new members regardless of club interest.

Create

successful working relationships between all departments. Assist in outreach, member referrals, and promoting all departments.

Act as Manager on Duty.

Ensure that all club departments are working together and focused on hitting monthly goals.

Position RequirementsKnowledge

(Including Education, Training or Certifications) Personal Training Certification required.

Skills & Abilities — maintains all applicable certifications and CEU requirements; AED and CPR certified, 1-2 year of management experience, Bachelors Degree preferred, competent in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Must be able to maintain a work schedule during prime time hours and have flexibility with work schedules.
