Physician (Hematology/Oncology)

The James H. Quillen VA Medical Center is seeking a Hematology/Oncology Physician to provide comprehensive, efficient, compassionate, high quality healthcare to all veterans, functioning as a member of the inter-disciplinary team providing clinical care to the veterans.Responsibilities:Provide medical evaluation and direct overall management of patients in collaboration with the healthcare team.Obtain a comprehensive health history and perform physical examinations on all patients who present to the Oncology/Hematology clinic or other assigned clinical areas.Order and enter diagnostic studies and interpret laboratory tests, EKG, and radiology diagnostic tests (CXR, CT scan, PET, MRI).Attend, participate, and present at weekly Tumor Board meetings.Collaborate and consult with other providers and healthcare team members for confirmation of diagnosis and treatment.Document initial visits, follow-up visits, procedures performed, problem lists, and progress notes in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS).Provide consultative feedback and management on patients referred from other sections of the hospital and/or affiliated VA outpatient clinics.Participate in equitable call coverage on a rotating basis with other providers in the Hematology/Oncology clinic.Minimum Requirements:United States Citizenship.Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution.Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.Completion of residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program.Proficiency in spoken and written English.Preferred Experience:Two years experience in Hematology/Oncology.Board certified/eligible.VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package including competitive salary, annual performance bonus, paid time off, retirement benefits, and more.
