Summary

The Associate Director of Student Accounts is responsible for the oversight of student account activities, including billing, refunding and cashiering, while ensuring compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulations. Maintains calendar and website content. Assists with reporting requirements to external agencies. Supports the Director in the overall operational functions of the Student Accounts office.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Supervise Student Accounts staff

Assist in the development and communication to students

Assist in the testing of new applications and modifying existing processes as needed.

Analyze past due accounts and payment plan accounts

Manage Perkins loan repayment with UAS and Perkins assignments

Calculate refunds owed to students in accordance with the U.S. Department of Education's regulations and submit voucher for refunds for timely payment.

Assist students and parents with difficult accounts that require special circumstances

Prepare Monthly AR aging report.

Maintain accurate and thorough file documentation; ensure accuracy of database and account restriction codes

Represent the Student Accounts office by serving on work groups and committees

Present Student Accounts policies at annual student orientations

Serve as the content manager for the office website and academic catalogs.

Process student tuition deposits

Model, support and facilitate quality customer service.

Assist in yearly 1098T reporting

Back up billing, posting financial aid, running daily reports

Assist with the annual audit

Stay up to date with US Dept of Education regulations and collections laws

Other duties as assigned

Work hours: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm Monday – Friday, with some weekends and evenings required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a field related to Accounting or Business Administration.

2-3 years of relevant experience in higher education or billing/collections.

Good computer skills and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially MS Excel preferred. Experience with Ellucian Colleague is a plus.

Must be a detail-oriented individual, with a high level of personal integrity and professionalism.

Excellent communication skills as the position requires interaction with faculty, staff, students, and parents.

The ability to handle confidential matters; confidentiality is a requirement.
