$30-34POSITION SUMMARY:The Clinical Assessor (Up Front Assessor) provides assessments of adults/caregivers utilizing a County approved assessment tool. The focus is on evaluating intimate partner violence, mental health and substance use to determine parental strengths and challenges. Completed assessments are submitted to the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). The Clinical Assessor also provides in-home outreach counseling (case management) visits, supplemental, and teaching and demonstrating services as needed. Assessments are primarily conducted during regular business and some after hours (8 AM to 7 PM), with optional availability from 7 PM to 8 AM but not required. Occasional weekend hours may be needed to complete clinical assessments.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Conduct comprehensive in-home clinical assessments primarily in the SPA 7 Southeast Los Angeles area (approximately 2-4 assessments per month).Provide in-home outreach counseling (case management) visits, supplemental, and teaching and demonstrating services as needed.Ensure compliance with the Family Preservation scope of work, DCFS Core Practice Model, Protective Factors Framework, and approved evidence-based approaches.Collaborate with DCFS in the assessment process.Complete and submit all required documentation to HSA and DCFS within the specified time frame.Adhere to child abuse reporting guidelines and maintain legal and ethical standards.Participate in peer reviews and maintain accurate client records.Receive supervision from a licensed clinical supervisor (for associates only).Attend required agency, program and DCFS meetings as required.Perform additional duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Proficient in diagnosing using the DSM-5-TR.Understanding of community engagement practices aimed at eliminating racial disproportionality and disparity.Familiarity with Strengthening Families Protective Factors, DCFS Core Practice Model, and evidence-based practices (preferred).Knowledge of risk factors related to child abuse, domestic violence, substance abuse and mental health.Strong decision-making skills, independent judgment, and the ability to work under pressure.Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships within a team setting.Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field.A minimum of two years’ experience working with underserved and unserved populations, such as people of color and LGBTQ+ community.At least two years’ experience working with families and children.A minimum of two years’ experience working with families affected by domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health issues and other trauma.LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:Active licensure in Clinical Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy or related field by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences is highly desirable but not required.Valid California driver’s license and proof of liability insurance.Negative tuberculosis screen (required).Must pass criminal background check.WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The primary work site is in Bell Gardens within the SPA 7 area.The environment may have moderate noise levels and is non-smoking.Physical demands include climbing one flight of stairs and occasional lifting/moving of up to 25 pounds.
