Job Description
Job Purpose
This position is for a candidate with 3-5 years' experience managing Windows server operating systems at the enterprise level. This position resides within a CBTS Managed Services team that provides enterprise solutions and technologies to multiple customers.
Standard hours for this position will be 4:00PM-12:00AM EST.
Essential Functions
The ideal candidate will work with minimal supervision and have a desire to investigate and implement solutions or fixes. Following procedures for break/fix, incidents, change requests, patching, and scheduled maintenance are a regular part of the position. Working with other engineers and customers, this candidate must possess a willingness to learn and adapt.
Verbal and written communication skills are necessary to convey information that may be complex to others. Additionally, being productive in a team environment and helping contribute to a positive team effort is required.
Planning and prioritization must occur to complete tasks effectively.
Position requires on-call support
Responsible for cross-training other members of the CBTS team in the domain area of expertise of the position to broaden the knowledge base within the team
Provide Windows (expertise) and Linux Server administration (basis support). Execute procedures for break/fix repair, change requests, and scheduled maintenance. Responsible for assisting in the implementation and support of virtualized Windows servers. Responsible for customer Server and procedure documentation.
10% - Write, and maintain systems documentation. Work with team lead to develop procedures and guidelines for implementation and management of Windows Server administration.
20% - Assist in V2V and P2V migration efforts
10% - Assist in the management of the virtualization infrastructure.
Essential Functions
50% - Provide day to day Windows administration on virtualized servers through ITIL defined processes.
10% - Windows Server analysis and patch management.
Experience
3 to 5 years
Strong understanding of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 through 2019 in small-to-large corporate environments with Active Directory experience
Experience supporting or working in VMware ESXi environments
Active Directory skills for creating, managing, and deploying AD Group Policy Objects
Experience with Windows Failover Clustering and DFS
Solid understanding of IP networking in the OSI model in LAN/WAN environments
Experience with enterprise systems for patching, antivirus, and monitoring
Familiarity with ITIL and ticketing systems
Detail-oriented and self-motivated with good time management, communication, and presentation skills across varying organization levels
Customer-facing experience when handling incident response
Experience with cloud providers (AWS, Azure) is a plus
Solid understanding of SNMP, DHCP, DNS, and IIS is a plus
Other relevant experience: PowerShell, RDS, Database or SQL, Linux, Cisco, SANs, and various automation technologies
Hands on experience with SNMP monitoring tools.
Working with network troubleshooting tools such as ping, traceroute, nslookup, and dig
General understanding of IP subnetting, including variable length subnet masks
Hands on experience with Windows and Linux
Understanding of backup technologies
Hands on experience with SAN storage
Hands on experience with VMware
Hands on experience with V2V and P2V migration tools and processes
Customer focused interpersonal skills in a support environment
Education
Degree resulting in an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and relevant professional certifications
Continuing applied technical education in multiple disciplines
Accreditation / Certification / Licenses
Current Microsoft MCSE Certification
VMware Certifications preferred
ITIL foundations certification preferred
Working understanding of Cisco UCS & Dell vxRail a plus
