About the Role:This position offers an opportunity to provide subject matter expertise and technical leadership for the dimensional analysis engineering function. This Senior Specialist is responsible for upholding the standards set forth in the ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) standard for both GDLS' advanced as well as legacy combat systems. This engineer also plays a key role in the mentorship, knowledge development and guidance of staff within the dimensional management functional area.

Position Description:Provide comprehensive GD&T analysis related technical expertise.Development and maintenance of Dimensional Management project plans.Evaluate model objectives and provide Datum scheme recommendations.Direct and monitor the development of the GD&T callouts of the models and drawings to ensure compliance with ASME Y14.5M-2009.Conduct manual tolerance evaluations of subsystem and component designs to ensure design functionality and design variation are considered.Ensure the objectives of engineering functionality and manufacturing producibility requirements are balanced.Provide accurate interpretation and application of ASME standards and dimensional analysis requirements across engineering functions.Continuous involvement in design reviews to maximize first pass design quality.Set technical project direction through understanding of contractual requirements and engineering best practices.Collaborate with Program Management, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, USG and vendors on issues & corrective actions.Support production related build issues.Lead continuous improvement efforts that address engineering efficiency.Foster a spirit of knowledge sharing through mentorship, training material development & delivery.

Position Requirements:Minimum requirement of a Bachelors in Engineering. Advanced degrees in a technical discipline preferred.10+ years of related experience.Active ASME Y14-.5 Senior-Level CertificationIn-depth knowledge of GD&T and application of ASME Y14.5-2009Exceptional understanding of mechanical engineering practices related to military ground vehicle designs.Experience in performing tolerance stack-up analysis on assemblies.Experience working with Teamcenter and NX (or equivalent PDM/PLM and CAD/CAE applications).Proficiency in Siemens Vis-VSA and/or 3DCS Variation Analysis software.Ability to work with 2D drawings as well as ability to work in a 3D CAD environment.Working knowledge of manufacturing fabrication, processes and capabilities.Working knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly practices.Knowledge of statistical qualification of machinery, tooling & functional gaging practices.Knowledge of quality inspection techniques and ability to interpret CMM data.Knowledge of machine design engineering practices & material applications.Experience engaging with all levels of the organization.Very strong verbal and written communication skills.Strong desire to offer technical mentorship and guidance.A mindset of innovation and continuous improvement.Occasional overtime required.Minimal travel (5%) required.
