This role works closely with the business and leadership across North American on ethics and compliance initiatives. The position requires a demonstrated ability to be proactive, exercise independent judgment and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate brings a collaborative approach and the ability to build positive relationships with internal clients.Essential Job FunctionsCompliance Strategy and Management:Implement a comprehensive compliance program to ensure adherence to local, national, and international regulations.Maintain and continuously improve Vantage’s ethics and compliance program, including the drafting, review and revision of policies and procedures to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct while maintaining a business-focused approach.Conduct compliance risk assessments to identify and address potential compliance issues.Implement the company’s global anti-bribery and anti-corruption framework.Monitor changes in laws, regulations, and industry standards and update policies and procedures accordingly.Provide advice on compliance matters related to the company’s operations, including real estate, construction, human resources, data privacy, permitting, and other areas as needed.Support ESG and D&I and corporate sustainability programs and initiatives.Implement and improve the company's compliance system tools, including the whistleblower hotline and case management tool.Policy Development and Implementation:Draft, review, and update company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Ensure that all employees are aware of and adhere to compliance policies through training programs and regular communications.Maintain a compliance documentation system to ensure accessibility and visibility.Risk Management:Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential compliance risks.Conduct and supervise compliance due diligence on third-party service providers, consultants and vendors.Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and corrective action plans.Work closely with internal teams to integrate risk management into operational processes.Regulatory Affairs:Stay informed on regulatory developments and provide guidance to senior leadership on compliance-related matters.Training and Awareness:Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees at all levels of the organization.Ensure that compliance training materials are up-to-date and reflect current regulatory requirements.Promote Vantage’s culture of ethics and compliance across departments and lead the delivery of employee ethics and compliance training to a diverse work force.Develop and maintain positive relationships with other departments and local sites to champion a culture of ethics and compliance across the organization.Internal Investigations:Conduct and handle internal investigations in collaboration with other internal partners and, as necessary, with outside counsel, to ensure timely and effective investigation, resolution, and remediation of compliance concerns.Recommend and implement corrective actions to address compliance issues.Ensure that all investigations are conducted fairly, thoroughly, and confidentially.Reporting and Documentation:Provide regular updates and detailed reports to senior leadership on compliance activities and outcomes.Maintain comprehensive records of compliance activities, investigations, and resolutions.Develop and present compliance metrics and Key Performance Indicators to track the effectiveness of compliance programs.Additional duties as assigned by Management.Job RequirementsEducation:Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Compliance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.JD from an accredited law school is required.Experience:Minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory affairs, with a significant portion in the data center or technology industry.Significant compliance experience, including anti-bribery and anti-corruption, trade compliance, data privacy, internal investigations, and whistle blower/anonymous reporting; extensive trade compliance experience is preferred.Corporate compliance and ethics experience, preferably at a premier law firm, governmental enforcement authority, and/or multi-nation company is desired but not required; at least 3 years of experience as in-house compliance counsel preferred.Experience using statistical analysis and other presentation data formats.Experience leading and balancing critical projects from inception to completion.Skills:Strong understanding of compliance regulations and legal requirements in the data center industry.Ability to stay apprised of material legal / regulatory developments and compliance trends, and timely incorporate into clear policies and procedures.Ability to identify compliance risks proactively – and then mitigate those risks effectively, working constructively with internal partners.Ability to understand and keep up to date with the company’s business, operations, and relevant commercial and regulatory environments to assess evolving risks and compliance objectives.Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and take ownership of issues and matters to their successful conclusion.Exemplary leadership and organization skills, including program and project management, prioritization and time management.Proven track record in developing and implementing compliance programs.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated strong communication (verbal and written) skills to articulate complex risks and issues effectively to different levels of internal partners and senior executives.Responsive and flexible to succeed within a fast growing and collaborative team environment.Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities successfully.Travel required is expected to be less than 5%, but may increase over time as the business evolves.Physical Demands and Special RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
