Job Description - Director, Welcome Center (STA015316)Director, Welcome CenterDescriptionReporting to the Executive Director of Admissions and Recruitment, the Director of the Welcome Center plays a crucial role in the Strategic Enrollment Management Division. This position leads and directs the campus visit program and all admission recruitment events, ensuring a cohesive and exceptional experience for prospective students and their families. The Director also manages collaborations with internal and external partners and builds K-12 and local college partnerships to enhance the university's outreach efforts.Duties:Provides comprehensive leadership for the Welcome Center staff, manages functional units such as Recruitment Events, Campus Visits, and ID Services.Directs the planning and executing of campus visits, including large group tours, targeted visits, program-specific tours, and individual visits across UHCL, UHCL Pearland, and UHCL TMC campuses.Works with various stakeholders to improve college access and ensure a successful onboarding process for prospective students. Ensures exceptional customer service and high-quality follow-up, embodying the university’s image and spirit for all prospective students and visitors.Designs and delivers specialized training for campus partners and Hawk Guide student staff on optimizing the campus visit experience. Identifies and addresses training needs for Welcome Center staff to ensure they are current on university programs, resources, and student services.Partners with the Marketing and Communications (MarComm) department to align recruitment and event materials with broader marketing strategies. Oversees management of the content for event and tour web pages.Utilizes data for effective decision-making and maintains a thorough understanding of institutional policies, assessing their impact on students' educational experiences.Prepares and manages the annual budget for the Welcome Center and admissions events, working closely with the Executive Director of Admissions and Recruitment and performs related duties as assigned.QualificationsRequired:Minimum five years of experience in Student Services, Administrative Services, and Enrollment in a Higher Education setting, including experience in customer service, process improvement, and providing support via online self-service tools.Knowledgeable of the various needs of our student population and of student development.Experience developing programs and working with special student populations.Knowledgeable of State and Federal rules, regulations, guidelines related to assigned areas.Must have strong computer skills, especially in the area of word processing, desktop publishing, and database management (e.g., PeopleSoft, MS Office, etc.) and skills to be innovative and creative in the use of computer and internet technology.Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and to take initiative for projects and development of services within offices as essential.Ability to be a positive customer service model and to effectively integrate online and in-person services to students.Experience assisting student welfare concerns and special population services. Experience supervising multiple units in a higher education setting.Required Attachments by Candidate:
