Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) required in Engineering/Business or other technical field

7+ years of experience working in utility/energy industry in a commercial/business development or technical role

1+ years of experience of analyzing energy projects and negotiating interconnection agreements and related contracts with utilities and contractors

2+ years of experience managing multiple million dollar power infrastructure contracts with external stakeholders to drive projects to completion

1+ years of experience developing and delivering Medium Voltage and High Voltage electric infrastructure projects in a planning or project management role

Amazon is seeking a self-starter to join the AWS Energy team that sits within the AWS Infrastructure Services org in pioneering the future for data center utility power by developing and executing the strategy by which AWS delivers energy projects and partners with electric utilities and energy companies across the Americas. This individual will define the end to end (generation, transmission, distribution, backup power) power strategy for scaling and operating AWS’ diverse, low-cost energy supply.

Key Job Responsibilities

Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive utilities strategy for AWS data centers for AMER regions.

Manage multiple Utilities, EPC and Owner's Engineers to deliver MV and HV power infrastructure, including negotiations and contracting.

Develop and execute energy strategies that leverage capital projects (utility grid connections, high voltage substations, energy storage, etc) to reduce long term energy costs.

Work collaboratively with Amazon CFE/RE team to support the development of strategic energy sourcing opportunities.

Execute electricity supply contracts that create new clean energy capacity on the grid (through utilities), reduce cost, minimize risk and leverage opportunities that benefit Amazon.

Manage a portfolio of complex energy projects.

Collaborate with internal teams and regulated utilities on the implementation and management of energy projects to meet the business timelines.

Identify and develop innovative cost savings projects (capital and operational) and initiatives related to energy infrastructure and supply.

Work with utility regulators to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader AWS strategies and objectives.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
