Our employee-owned and integrated team of multi-disciplined design and engineering professionals has an exciting new opportunity available for an engineer with a demonstrated ability to cultivate stakeholder relationships, a passion for and thorough understanding of the rail industry, and progressive experience or designing and managing various office, maintenance, and operations facility projects within the freight and commuter rail market sectors to join our team.TKDA has a long history of serving various Class I railroads and commuter agencies with long-term planning, multi-disciplined design and construction management services on a multitude of facilities and infrastructure projects and capital improvement programs. As the Railroad & Transit Facility Market Manager, you will be responsible for advancing our multi-disciplined services as it relates to the design, maintenance, expansion, retrofit, replacement and demolition of a wide range of administrative, training, maintenance/service, passenger/commuter terminal, and operations facilities with both existing and prospective railroad clients throughout the United States.With some autonomy, you will be responsible for assessing strategic business objectives and outlining annual client and market development plans that continuously focus on cultivating and deepening relations with key stakeholders, increasing awareness of engineering and design services, enhancing technical capabilities and project deliverables, and aligning them with the needs and operations of the respective markets.In this role, you will collaborate with a multi-disciplined team of market managers, technical group managers, project managers, engineering professionals (civil, mechanical, electrical, and structural), and design professionals (architects) to identify strategic clients, track prospective opportunities, evaluate pursuit requirements against team capabilities, lead or co-lead proposal development efforts, prepare and conduct project interviews and capabilities presentations, and cross-sell engineering and design services. You will also oversee activities of all industrial and/or maintenance facility sector projects and be responsible for collaborating with project managers and technical group managers to define project scope and scheduling requirements, negotiate contracts, assemble project teams, establish and adhere to design standards, review design plans for technical quality and accuracy, and monitor expenditures and budget parameters.As a Market Manager, you will be viewed as a sector expert and in turn be expected to share your knowledge as well as applicable client perspectives on anticipated industry operations trends, regulatory changes, etc. with other Market Managers, Group Managers, and members of the leadership team. On occasion, you may assume the role of project manager for significant projects or projects of strategic importance.For this opportunity we are seeking a qualified professional who resides within 50 miles of any TKDA office location and who has the ability to travel regionally and nationally as required or needed based on assigned responsibilities. Flexible work arrangements will be considered for those who have demonstrated an ability to work successfully in a hybrid work environment by displaying self-motivation, initiative, teamwork, and strong communication skills.Required Qualifications

Bachelor or Master degree in architecture or architectural, civil, electrical, mechanical, or structural engineering and professional licensure.Ten or more years of progressive design experience related to a diverse portfolio of industrial and/or maintenance facility projects.Minimum of five years of multi-disciplined project management experience with a reputation of effectively managing client expectations, project scope, fee estimates, budgets, and schedules.Prior business development experience demonstrated by an ability to cultivate, strengthen, and/or maintain relations with client and stakeholder representatives and an ability to identify, track, and secure project/contract opportunities throughout the country.Thorough understanding of facility layouts and functionality requirements associated with freight and commuter rail processes and operations (i.e., drop tables, sanding and air systems, locomotive/car wash, wheel truing, ventilation, multi-modal loading/unloading, utilities, etc.) and ability to foresee client/agency needs and expectations as it relates to current and future operations, regulatory requirements/constraints, and financial budgets and funding sources; ability to identify trends, suggest holistic design solutions, and guide conceptual ideas into functional and buildable solutions.Demonstrated ability to apply effective written, verbal, and visual communication and presentation skills when developing proposals, preparing technical reports and documentation, conducting project interviews and capabilities presentations, leading team meetings, engaging in market development and business planning discussions, and representing TKDA at professional events and conferences.Thorough understanding of Class I railroad and commuter railroad standards and specifications.Flexibility to travel up to 25% overnight to conduct on-site consultations, participate in project meetings, and facilitate business development events, and represent TKDA at regional and national conferences.Advantageous Qualifications

Previous experience contributing to or outlining client and market development plans as well as annual and multi-year strategic business plans to meet project, market, division, and corporate revenue and profit goals.Active membership within railroad industry associations including AREMA and/or AAR; active participation in related technical committee(s).Good standing rapport with client and/or agency representatives; recognition as a market sector expert.Prior experience designing rail, transit, fleet, bus, and/or electric vehicle maintenance facilities.Experienced with International Building Codes, ADA Guidelines, and DOT Accessible Standards.Upon acceptance of a conditional offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to complete a standard pre-employment background screening, which consists of Social Security verification, educational verification, review of criminal convictions, and driving history.Note:
