Position DescriptionNational Grid Renewables is looking for a
Regional Director-Operations
to join our team. The Regional Director-Operations will be responsible for oversight and direction of 5-8 renewable generating sites comprised of wind, solar, or battery energy storage systems. This position is responsible for leading a safe, high-performing operations team which may include multiple levels, functions, facilities, while driving the efficient and cost-effective use of resources. The Regional Director-Operations will implement process initiatives and support daily operations with the resources and tools needed to optimize National Grid Renewables generation assets. The role will encompass setting and achieving business area goals that align with the overall company goals and metrics. This position can be located remote but will need to be near or at a field office and in proximity to an airport for travel.
ResponsibilitiesEnsure the operational assets provide maximum availability/reliability in a safe, economical, and proactive manner.Communicate regularly with various departments: environmental health & safety, engineering, asset management, and other personnel to ensure satisfaction of internal/external customer requirements.Effectively manage team performance through focus on operational efficiencies and lead business unit improvement initiatives.Drive continuous improvement efforts to define and shape opportunities that drive customer satisfaction and reliability.Establish development planning practices to build strong, competitive teams and effectively manage performance and drive engagement.Ensure all relevant internal controls are followed and develop new controls as needed.Participate in root cause analysis and present findings to cross-functional teams, including executive management.Develop and effectively manage organization budgets and business plans.Identify/implement process improvements and ensure execution of plans/metrics.Achieve safety, productivity, customer service, and reliability targets by conducting and implementing strategic planning for the area of responsibility.Ensure plants are equipped and supported with training opportunities to develop skills.Support newly constructed projects to ensure successful turnover from construction to operations.Assist team with NERC compliance and other regulatory requirements as determined.Drive and manage operations initiatives.QualificationsMinimum 5-7 years’ experience in utility scale construction, operations or maintenance of renewable energy generation plants or other power generation plants or related industries/fields.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.3-5 years’ experience leading a direct team or group of employees and ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.Demonstrated expertise in business area standards, procedures, process integration, and applicable government/environmental regulations.Self-directed, motivated, goal oriented, and mission driven with a positive attitude.Ensure internal controls and processes are consistent, current, documented and reviewed on a regular basis.Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and communicate business area strategies that align with overall company performance and goals.Proven results at setting/driving performance and operational metrics and achieving process adherence.Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop direct reports to be people leaders.Valid driver’s license and ability to travel 50-70%.Preference may be given to candidates with the following:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.Experience with wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems.Demonstrated leadership experience.All offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of reference check, & background check.
