We are seeking a National Training Director to join us in Durham, North Carolina or Chicago, Illinois

Position Summary:

The National Training Director will lead our efforts to develop, deliver and administer training for our retail credit unions. The Director will design and implement strategic training initiatives to enhance employee performance and foster continuous growth. This role involves developing engaging training programs, delivering effective learning sessions, and evaluating outcomes to ensure optimal impact. The focus of this position will be on directing training of staff in credit union branch operations and lending as well as management and development of credit union procedures.

WHAT You’ll Do

:

Lead and direct the process of identifying the organization’s training needs in consultation with Operations, Branch Management, Learning & Development, People Team, Compliance, and Internal Audit teams.

Develop training plans aligned with business goals to support the credit union's objectives.

Collaborate with the People Team to ensure that the credit unions are providing employees with a comprehensive and coordinated training schedule.

Oversee and direct the work of training staff in developing and maintaining a core curriculum for new and existing branch staff.

Innovate training delivery methods, including asynchronous web-based, video, virtual instructor-led training, in-person classroom training, one-on-one instruction, and on-site training.

Develop and implement standard curriculum for core competencies across all member-facing positions, including tellers, universal bankers, and management roles.

Design and deliver training for all levels of branch staff, as necessary

Identify and recruit internal content experts and provide guidance on the development of their courses and presentations

Develop and implement metrics to assess the effectiveness of training programs.

Supervise and/or direct the work of other training staff responsible for developing, coordinating and maintaining a core training program for new and existing branch staff. This function may include the use of internal and external training resources. Coach, mentor and guide the professional development of training team members.

Lead the development and implementation of credit union processes and procedures.

Identify, evaluate, and select external training vendors to provide specialized training programs.

Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with vendors to ensure quality service and cost-effectiveness.

Monitor vendor performance and conduct regular reviews to ensure training objectives are being met.

Coordinate with vendors to customize training solutions that align with the credit union’s specific needs.

Act as a change agent to drive Self-Help’s economic inclusion initiatives by integrating supplier diversity and the use of businesses owned by women and people of color in third party contracting and vendor management for relevant products and services

Perform other duties as may be deemed necessary.

WHAT You’ll Need

:

Demonstrated commitment to Self-Help’s mission to create and protect ownership and economic opportunity for all.

Ability to work in a collaborative and diverse work environment.

Strong ability to promote Self-Help through writing, presentations and networking.

Familiarity and proficiency in Microsoft (including MS Teams), learning management software (LMS; preferably Cornerstone OnDemand) and policy management programs.

Undergraduate degree or equivalent related experience; Graduate degree in a related field is preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Human Resources, or a related field (master's degree preferred).

Minimum of 8 years of experience in credit union or banking operations, with at least 5 years in a training or leadership role; prior CDFI experience a plus.

Proven experience in designing and delivering effective training programs.

Strong knowledge of credit union operations, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to travel nationally (up to 10% overnight) as required.

Ability and willingness to work beyond normal work hours, as needed.
