is responsible for overall design, implementation, communication, and administration of the organization's compensation and benefits programs. This includes developing innovative approaches to base salary, short and long-term incentives, and benefits. The role formulates and directs compensation and benefit strategies/programs which support and drive attainment of business objectives; respond to competitive labor market conditions; and meet all legal requirements. Partners with HR colleagues to ensure compensation programs are aligned with BlueLinx’ overall talent strategy. Partners with VP, Human Resources, and leaders/employees throughout the business to ensure employee benefit, leave, compensation, and recognition policies and programs are aligned and administered appropriately based on BlueLinx’ overall HR and Total Rewards strategies.Key Responsibilities:Understands the company’s vision, mission, and strategy; understands business unit objectives and sets/accomplishes individual performance goals accordingly.Develops, implements, and manages processes associated with BlueLinx Total Rewards package for corporate and field operations in US and Canada – including Medical, Dental, Rx, Life, Vision, LOA, LTD, STD, paid time off, performance management, employee recognition programs, and retirement planning.Manages vendor and administrative processes surrounding the defined contribution and defined benefit retirement plans, its related policies, guidelines, and compliance. Recommends new and/or improved plan designs, processes, and cost-saving strategies which are consistent with corporate objectives and legislated requirements and programs.Oversees processing of all documents necessary for implementation of various benefits programs and maintenance of such records as required for compliance with ERISA, COBRA, SOX, and other applicable regulations. Manages active and retiree employee SPDs, SARs, SMMs, and IRS 5500’s compliance.Develops operational relationships with vendors selected to administer company plans; manages performance through continuous process improvement.Manages the development of employee benefit communications.Provides overall leadership of the design, development, and ongoing management of sales incentive plans, requiring significant contact with sales leaders and the finance team.Leads the design, development, and ongoing management of cash and incentive plans, salary/wage planning, bonus and salary administration, job analysis, salary grading, and market differences.Plans and administers executive compensation programs, including base pay recommendations, all short-term and long-term incentive plans, deferred compensation, and control arrangements.Works with managers to ensure compliance in accordance with federal, state, and local employment requirements, (e.g. FMLA, ADA, EEOC, ADEA, FSLA, etc.).Serves as an authoritative source to company employees and outside inquiries relative to the company’s Total Reward programs.Leads team; selects/hires; develops objectives; coaches and evaluates performance. Ensures direct reports obtain applicable training and development opportunities to enhance performance, development, and contributions to the company. Holds direct reports accountable for individual and team performance. Addresses performance issues appropriately and timely.Education/Experience:Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration or related field. Master’s degree preferred.PHR, SPHR, CPP or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) a plus.12+ years of experience in related area of responsibility. 10+ years with a master’s degree.In-depth understanding of compensation principles, benefits administration, performance management, and relevant regulations (e.g. FLSA, ERISA).Demonstrated experience with base salary, market pricing, variable pay, sales commission, performance management, job evaluation, data analysis, and cost modeling.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to think strategically and align total rewards initiatives with organizational objectives.Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with other departments and senior leadership.Demonstrated commitment to maintaining confidentiality, fairness, and ethical standards in compensation and benefits practices.About BlueLinx:BlueLinx is a leading U.S. wholesale distributor of residential and commercial building products.
