Broward County, Board of County Commissioners is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Library Specialist, Part Time 19 at the Main Library in the Creation Station Section. This position provides direct public assistance to customers in the Creation Station at the Main Library. Responsibilities include assisting customers with 3D printers, virtual reality gear, and other technology, as well as planning and presenting programs to promote the space. The individual must demonstrate and assist customers with the equipment and software available.Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires one (1) year of library experience or closely related experience.Special Certifications and Licenses:
None.Preferences:
Associate Degree or higherAt Least 1 Year Experience as a Lead Worker/SupervisorAt Least 1 Year Experience Cash HandlingAt Least 1 Year of Experience with Software such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office SuiteAt Least 1 Year of Experience in Program Planning, Development, and DeliveryAt Least 1 Year of Experience in Project PlanningDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Guides and assists the library staff to ensure excellent customer service is provided to patrons. Works under close to general supervision according to set procedures.Duties:Oversees the work of subordinate library employees, verifying that tasks are completed as assigned.Provides first line customer service to library patrons; assists with returning and charging of materials, issues new library cards, and handles Point of Sale transactions.Resolves day-to-day operating issues; answers questions or concerns from staff.Completes daily cash handling transactions and prepares cash reports.Reviews all equipment for proper working order and completes minor technical troubleshooting.Assists in the training of new employees and completes staff performance appraisals.Plans and implements various library programs and activities.Ensures the safety of library customers by reporting behavior violations.Prepares correspondence and collects customer statistics for reporting.Performs related work as assigned.WORK ENVIRONMENT
Physical Demands:
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis.Unavoidable Hazards:
