Overview:

On Noblis’ energy and sustainability team, we are dedicated to addressing our planet’s and nation’s biggest challenges, including climate change. We are seeking a professional who will be a member of our energy and sustainability team supporting Federal government partners, including the Department of Defense. Our energy and sustainability team conducts analysis that informs policy development, provides subject matter expertise to drive decarbonization, and advances energy resilience initiatives. We advance initiatives that transform how we build, buy, and manage electricity, vehicles, buildings, and other operations to be clean and sustainable. This role will support a hybrid work flexibility with preference given to candidates within the Washington D.C. area (DMV) or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities:

As a carbon free electricity lead consultant on our team, you will support a number of efforts, including analysis of vertically integrated and retail choice electricity markets, development of power purchase agreements or utility energy service contracts, and creating renewable electricity buying strategies. You may assess energy attribute certificates or renewable energy credits and engage on negotiations between DoD and energy utility companies across the United States. The successful candidate will work together with government partners to procure 100% carbon free electricity for installations to meet climate change mitigation goals. You will also interface with DoD and interagency working groups to collaborate on sustainability and energy resilience initiatives. You will also directly engage with private sector stakeholders and utilities and conduct research to develop buying strategies that reduce climate impact and increase energy resilience. You may engage in other initiatives as well, such as economic analysis and policy development.

You will support planning and management of project deliverables and engage in open-minded interactions with clients and coworkers to deliver results. You will have the opportunity to expand your capabilities in your current work and grow through interactions across Noblis.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a related field and 8+ years' experience (or a Master's and 6+ years' experience)

Experience in energy and sustainability – including experience with renewable energy or carbon free electricity procurement for large, geographically diversified organizations

Experience in assessing or supporting development of PPAs, UESCs, VPPAs, EACs, RECs, or ESPCs

Ability to support multiple procurement activities or strategies at once across markets

Excellent communication and writing skills, including experience presenting to technical and nontechnical audiences

Ability to work independently and as a part of a geographically diverse team to deliver results on time and budget.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience supporting DoD installation power procurement activities, Federal facilities, or with large utilities

Understanding of onsite generation, retail energy markets, and green tariff programs

Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts between the government agencies and energy utilities

Understand U.S. Federal agency sustainability policy, including for carbon free electricity

Financial risk assessment and modeling capabilities

Located within the Washington D.C. area (DMV) or willing to relocate

Salary Range:

USD $109,100.00 - USD $170,450.00 /Yr.
