Special Instructions:

This is a full-time benefits-eligible position. Working hours:

Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

Position Purpose:

The Director of the Success Advising Center plays a key role in student success at UCM. The Director’s role includes, but is not limited to:

Development and execution of a shared advising model that is proactive, equitable, and holistic.

Development of collaborative relationships with academic departments to support a shared advising model.

Promotion of a belief that all faculty and staff are responsible for student success.

Conducting research on best practices in student success, and executing initiatives to achieve best in class student success outcomes.

Providing support programming for external programs focused on college access and completion.

Supporting faculty and staff training as it pertains to comprehensive advising, mentoring, coaching, and other student success practices.

Completing assessment, evaluation, and reporting of student success/advising programs and processes.

Overseeing the student advising component of new student orientations.

Working directly with special populations of students, such as first year students, transfer students, Open Option (undecided) students, students identified as vulnerable (at-risk), and academic probationary students.

Taking a leadership role in the student alert/warning referral system as it relates to academic success.

As a member of the University CARE team, taking an active role in this system campus wide.

Education & Formal Training:

Master’s degree in Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Career Development or related field.

Experience:

Minimum of five years of progressively more responsible experience in a higher education environment, preferably in Student Success, Retention, Advising, Career Development or Student Affairs, with an emphasis on organizational leadership, academic advising, crisis intervention, retention or career development.

Minimum of two years of administrative or management experience that includes project planning and management, budgeting, personnel selection, supervision and evaluation, program and curriculum development and assessment.

Extensive experience in higher education setting with an emphasis on academic advising, crisis intervention, retention initiatives, or career development.

Licenses, Certificates, Registrations, & State/Federal Requirements of Position:

Criminal History check, Driver's license.

Certification to administer career assessments; such as MBTI, FOCUS, CLII; and must have or be able to obtain within first 12 months of employment.

General knowledge of the principles, practices and trends in the areas of academic advising, student persistence, retention, and degree completion.

Ability to present intricate information to diverse audiences in an appropriate, exciting, and engaging manner.
