HDR is looking for a Renewables Regional Leader to help lead our Renewables Program's growth in the Southeast U.S. The Regional Leader will work with our national Renewables Practice Leader and our regional Power Business Development leadership to grow our business with existing clients and develop new regional clients.

You are a strong listener, a self-starter, technically adept, and a strong fit for HDR's growth oriented "Seller, Do-er" culture. You are also highly capable of leading a large team in consulting support for some of the largest renewable energy projects in the United States.

Primary Responsibilities

The primary duties of the Renewables Regional Leader will involve identifying and pursuing opportunities to support new and existing clients in the planning, development, design, permitting and optimization of their renewable energy projects and portfolios. Responsibilities for this position will include client management, business development and serving as a technical consultant and/or project manager for projects primarily in the solar, wind, offshore wind, battery storage, and microgrid markets.

Specific responsibilities will include:Work with your colleagues to inform and implement HDR's regional renewable market strategy.Lead and/or participate in regional and national HDR renewables planning meetings to identify target markets and clients.Identify and pursue project opportunities to deliver a variety of HDR services in the renewable energy market including but not limited to consulting, detailed design, owners engineering, permitting, siting, and planning.Serve as Project and/or Client Manager for key contracts and be responsible for the coordination, quality, and timely completion of projects.Collaborate with and support our Renewables marketing team in all phases of "winning the work". This work will include driving development and internal business process approvals for: Responses to Request for proposal (RFP) solicitations, fee proposals, risk management of commercial terms reviews and contract negotiations.Coordinate the involvement and input of internal partner teams involving those with expertise in power delivery, thermal generation, engineering, project controls, environmental permitting, site assessments, construction management, program management, project economics, and risk assessment.Deep coordination with other Power Regional Practice leads to align with implementation of overall area power strategies, hiring and plan implementation with partnership in the areas.Establishment and maintenance of client relationships and involvement with marketing, contractual, and development meetings. Candidate should be able to recognize other HDR services and activities outside of core development services that would benefit clients.Perform other duties as needed - it is desired that Consultant have a specific interest in helping clients navigate processes and solve problems, regardless of the specific content.

Preferred Qualifications

8 years of energy/environmental planning or engineering experience including 4 years in the renewable energy industry, specifically in the areas of solar, battery storage, other de-carbonized novel generation technologies and/or micro-grids.Demonstrated ability to establish new business relationships and to work with others to grow existing accounts.Demonstrated ability to navigate company business processes and procedures for client management and business development opportunities.Experience with consulting, planning, design, construction, and operation of renewable energy systems.Understanding of policy and financial drivers for the renewable energy market.Understanding of the various energy markets in the United States and ability to identify and market renewable energy opportunities within the regional market of responsibility.Must have project management skills with a strong ability to maintain a high standard of quality in the project deliverable.Travel will consist of 15% - 30% of time, domestic only.Must have excellent communication, presentation and writing skills.Preferred experience working with a variety of client types including regulated and non-regulated utilities, Independent Power Producers, municipalities, and other public and private clients.Familiar with current industry trends such as the implications of growing electric vehicle adoption, aggregation of behind-the-meter resources, distributed energy resources, energy storage applications, and increasing renewable energy implementation on existing utility infrastructure.Participant in industry professional organizations, publications, conferences, and industry events.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field.7 years related experience.A minimum of 2 years project management experience.Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills.An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
