Principal Responsibilities:The JCC of Greater New Haven Assistant Aquatics Director will serve as an integral part of the Sports and Recreation management team. The Assistant is responsible for staffing, planning, and assisting the Director in managing all aspects of our Aquatics Departments.

The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting in all aspects of pool programming, operations, maintenance, and repairs for our main pool, whirlpool, and summer camp pool. This work is conducted in collaboration with our Director of Facilities.

The Assistant Director plans, develops, schedules, coordinates, and leads a robust array of member-focused aquatics programs, including swimming lessons and a variety of adult water fitness classes. The Assistant Director will ensure that team members consistently execute the basics of punctuality, dress code compliance, friendliness, and cleanliness.

Minimum Qualifications:Essential Job Responsibilities:

Develops, implements, and oversees fun aquatic activities and programs for its members, customers, and guests.

Maintain a schedule of private clients for swimming lessons, ensuring effective management of time slots and client needs.

Assist with the swim team coach on scheduling pool time and meets (Coaching when needed).

Build positive relationships with the members, parents, children, and staff.

Help with hiring, training, and evaluating the aquatics staff.

Coordinate all scheduling of lifeguards and swim instructors. Cover lifeguard shifts as needed.

Maintain an organized filing system for all inter-department documents.

Ensure all staff certifications are current.

Organize and instruct aquatic and safety certification training as needed.

Ensure safety and injury prevention in the pool area.

Assist with the maintenance of the indoor and outdoor pool, to include cleanliness, chemistry, and climate control.

Monitor and maintain inventory of pool equipment and supplies.

Assist in the implementation of all health policies regarding the pool and maintain all health licensing requirements and certifications for the indoor and outdoor pools. Maintain accurate logs for pool chemicals and maintenance.

Lead and instruct group classes of all ages weekly.

Monitor registration of swim programs and private lessons.

Coordinate with other department heads on their needs in the pool area.

Assist in yearly fundraisers for the pool and JCC as an organization.

Attend required staff meetings and departmental meetings.

Complete other duties assigned by the Aquatics Director.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Red Cross Lifeguard certification (including CPR, 1st Aid, AED, Blood borne pathogen training).

Water Safety Instructor (WSI) preferred.

Certified Pool Operator (CPO) preferred.

Salary:$40,000
