The Grants & Contracts Management Senior Analyst will oversee and manage all pre-award activities for assigned principal investigators as part of the COM Grants Management Office (GMO). The GMO submits over 1000 proposals each year to federal, foundation, and industry sponsors.Responsibilities:Participate in the development and preparation of grant proposals in collaboration with the Principal Investigator (PI).Serve as a resource for team members with proposal development.Contribute to the training of new staff.Provide expertise in support of all pre-award activities, create budgets, and review biographical sketches, resources, letters of support, and other required administrative components of grant proposal submission.Provide proposal development tools, aids, and direct support to faculty.Establish appropriate sub-recipient budgets and documents as needed for grant submissions.Coordinate with other internal staff and locate relevant materials, formatting, and editing.Serve as contact on proposal submissions for assigned grants and coordinate submission of proposals with the Office of Sponsored Programs.Investigate and evaluate compliance with regulations and guidelines of program funding.Participate in educational onboarding of new PIs and their staff.Lead the preparation and submission of Training Grant or other large, complex applications.Obtain documentation when a University contribution is proposed.Provide support for large, interdisciplinary program grant proposals.Collaborate with GMO post-award staff as needed.Utilize knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, conflict of commitment, foreign involvement/collaboration, and biosafety.Research, interpret, and develop written policies and procedures.Utilize enterprise systems such as research administration or financial systems; manage a large volume of transactions at various stages and types.Contribute to compliance in financial policies and procedures by resolving compliance-related issues and reporting larger issues to management.Minimum Education Required:Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.Additional Education Desired:Certified Research Administrator or Certified Financial Research Administrator certification.Required Qualifications:5 years of experience in research administration required, including grant and/or contract management.Considerable knowledge of grant & contract regulations required.Experience working with federal or private agency sponsors required.Experience with all types of NIH award mechanisms, including grants, subawards, cooperative agreements, and other transaction agreements.Demonstrated knowledge of NIH federal sponsor regulations, including OMB Circulars and Uniform Guidance, NIH Grants Policy Statement, and cost-accounting standards.Basic ability to interpret terms and conditions of legal agreements.Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with electronic research administration tools & systems.Familiarity with Workday financials & HR systems desired.Certification as Certified Research Administrator (CRA) desired.Ability to think strategically and see how parts interact with the big picture.Ability to effectively manage and execute multiple tasks, projects, and priorities.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Excellent communication skills necessary for communicating intricate job-related processes.Function: Research AdministrationSub Function: Grants and Contract ManagementCareer Band: SCareer Level: S3
