The Office of Admissions at Oglethorpe University, a liberal arts college in Atlanta, GA, seeks a collaborative, proactive, detail-oriented, and forward-thinking person for the Associate Director of Admission. Reporting to the Director of Admission, the Associate Director is directly responsible for recruiting and enrolling prospective students through regional recruitment, on-campus and virtual programs, and special projects. The Associate Director is also responsible for supervising full-time staff to ensure they reach their recruitment goals and serving as the primary liaison for one or more departments or units.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdmission and Recruitment

Manage all aspects of recruitment for an assigned geographic territory or special populations of students.Develop and monitor a comprehensive, territory-specific prospect pool.Strategically select, schedule, and participate in high school visits and college fairs.Critically evaluate applicants for admission based on enrollment management and strategic plans.Serve as a second reader for specific territories or applications and final reader as necessary.Maintain sustained communication with all prospective students and families.Intentionally develop and maintain strategic relationships with high school counselors.Advise and consult with prospective students and families on admission to Oglethorpe.Answer questions thoughtfully and thoroughly for families; provide exceptional customer service.Assist with all on-campus events, including delivering presentations, tours, and hosting visits.Engage in intentional and continual learning about Oglethorpe and best practices in Admission.

Specialized Population and Other Responsibilities

Inspire, recruit, retain, cross-train and manage 2 to 3 full-time staff responsible for traditional undergraduate domestic territories, transfer, ADP, MBA, and other specialized student populations.Collaborate with the Director to establish counselor travel and territory management; monitor direct reports' progress towards matriculation retention goals; cross-train staff.Serve as or manage staff that are the primary admissions liaison and contact to The Dream.US to coordinate this admissions process and scholarship awards.Manage all aspects of International Admission, including all F-1 visa-seeking applicants and any other applicants who live or attend school abroad, including performing GPA recalculations on international grades.Serve as liaison between the Office of Admission and Office of Global Education to ensure international applicants complete all necessary steps in compliance with US State Department rules and regulations.Assist in maintaining and updating Slate forms specific to international students.Pull credit evaluations and language proficiency scores from external platforms like SpanTran.Maintain and update communications specific to international students in Slate and Outlook inboxes.Serve as the liaison with contracted agencies or firms hired to increase international enrollment.Remain current on new immigration rules, language proficiency test options, and other considerations for international students.Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree and 3 or more years of progressive, professional experience, with at least 2 years in admissions or enrollment management.Excellent communication (verbal, written, and digital) and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and develop proactive prospecting methodologies to support organizational goals.Appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse organizational environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of many social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.Ability to multitask, delegate, and hold individuals accountable, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality experience for students and families that reflects the core values of Oglethorpe University.Demonstrated ability to work in a fluid environment, prioritize goals, and independently manage multiple and competing priorities while meeting deadlines and specific KPIs.Strong people management and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated commitment to ethical, transparent, collaborative, and optimistic leadership.Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information.Must successfully pass a criminal background check.Preferred Qualifications:Previous management experience of full-time staff.Familiarity using SLATE or other CRM.Additional Information:This is a full-time, 12-month position with extensive travel.A valid driver’s license and personal automobile are required.Working some evenings and weekends required.Some heavy lifting is required.Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person.
