This position is being recruited in both Anchorage and Juneau; final location is based on the location of the selected candidate.

What You Will Be DoingThis paralegal position will be assigned to the Labor Relations workgroup within the Labor & State Affairs Section. This paralegal will assist the attorneys and labor relations analysts in preparation for arbitrations, mediations, court proceedings, and other dispute resolution activities. This position will also conduct research, draft legal documents, and manage document evidence.

Mission and CultureThe Labor and State Affairs section provides legal assistance in the form of agency advice and representation in diverse areas of the law. The section advises agencies on matters of governmental management including employment law, labor relations, civil rights, separation of powers, boards and commissions, and procurement. The section also provides legal services for the Department of Labor and Workforce Development on matters involving unemployment, wage and hour, and Workers’ compensation. Further, the section provides legal assistance on issues associated with the conduct of elections, campaign finance, disaster management, and homeland security.

Our office also offers an optional hybrid telework schedule following completion of the probationary period. The general office hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm but there is flexibility in establishing your regular hours around core business hours.
