If this proof is not provided within this timeframe, the offer may be rescinded or employment terminated.Position Summary/Purpose of Position:The Assistant Director will serve as key leader in the University Senate Office and as the Chief of Staff for the Senate Director. In this role, serve as a key advisor and subject matter expert on University policy to Committee Chairs, members of the Senate leadership, and members of the campus community and help develop strategies to address complex issues within the University Senate with creative strategies. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for managing and advising several high-level Senate committees, special committees, University councils, the Special Committee on University Finance (SCUF), and joint task forces. They will also be responsible for overseeing Senate legislation annually across all ten Senate standing committees by managing how the Committee Coordinators address those issues within their committees by providing guidance, best practices, and comprehensive strategies.Minimum Requirements:Minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience working in an administrative office.Experience working in higher education with high-level administrators is preferred. 2 or more years of direct supervisory experience.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent proofreading and editing skills.Must demonstrate a high-level of technological proficiency in general computer applications.Ability to oversee and prioritize various projects with competing deadlines.Ability to develop and edit policy language.Ability to manage and mentor staff and work in a team environment.Ability to work in a confidential environment with a high level of diplomacy with campus constituents and administrators at all levels.Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.Ability to think strategically and develop creative solutions to complex situations.Preferences:Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.Job Risks:Job Risks Not Applicable to This PositionPhysical Demands:Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
