The Community Health Endowment (CHE) invests in health-related projects and programs and convenes the community around important health issues with the vision of making Lincoln, NE the healthiest city in the nation. For our current grant cycle, CHE prioritizes investments in:

• Early and AdequatePrenatal Care• Healthy Food Access• Youth Fitness• MentalWellness and Human Connection

Since its creation, CHE has returned more than $40 million within the city of Lincoln while growing the endowment at the rate of inflation for future generations. In addition to providing funding to community organizations who useboldness, creativity, passion and expertiseto make Lincoln a healthier place to live, work and raise a family, CHE has invested in major projects that solidify the organization's legacy of creating better health outcomes for the most vulnerable people. These projects present significant opportunities to improve life and health for Lincoln residents. They include the Medical Assistance Program, the Healthy Food Access Project, the Schroder Park Wellness Campus Project, the Health 360 Project, the Adverse Childhood Experiences Institute and the Cultural Centers of Lincoln.

CHE is governed by a highly engaged 15-member Board of Trustees. There are four FTEs, an annual budget of about $750,000 and a grant making budget based on endowment growth of approximately $1.5 - $2 million annually. For more information about the Community Health Endowment, visit

CHE is leader among leaders as a high-functioning, capacity builder and convener in Lincoln. As a catalyst organization that listens to the community at large, their organizational partners and multiple stakeholders, they utilize their deep community understanding and knowledge to advance and lean into their mission of making Lincoln the healthiest city in the nation. In its 26 years, it has grown from funding small projects to being a funder of larger scale legacy projects like Health 360, a program which integrates mental health, substance use and primary care services. Its strong endowment and financial position have allowed the organization to grow, expand and provide more support to the community and successfully address health equities for all communities.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the next leader of CHE will work collaboratively with a dedicated and savvy Board and staff to cast the vision through a new strategic plan. This leader will continue the work and exploration of understanding what health equity concepts and practices mean to the Lincoln community. The President & CEO will become invested and embedded in the fabric of Lincoln and will serve as the primary face of the Endowment. With a keen eye towards diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, the successful candidate will continue the Endowment's work in building strong, authentic and mutually respectful relationships within Lincoln to address issues surrounding health equity and access to healthcare.

Community Health Endowment seeks a proven leader whose passion for service to the community is demonstrated by a career dedicated to improving the human condition. With exceptional leadership ability, this person must exhibit success in collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders.

We seek a leader who is an organization builder with an ability to raise awareness and to clearly articulate a message about the Endowment's vision and purpose. This individual will show a high level of empathy and compassion for others, especially BIPOC communities who will be impacted by the organization's actions.

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. Demonstration of continuing professional education, accreditation in a professional field and board leadership will be expected.

Community Health Endowment offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The salary range for this position is between $170,000 - $190,000 and will be commensurate with experience. CHE offers a comprehensive benefits package, including but not limited to paid holidays, vacation, group health, vision and dental, as well as a pension benefit paid to employees bi-weekly and a 457 Deferred Compensation Plan for voluntary participation.
