AHL’s office in downtown Honolulu is seeking a Senior Healthcare Interior Designer with experience in all aspects of Healthcare-related interior design, documentation, and implementation. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 10 years of practical Healthcare interior design experience.
Knowledge of interior and architectural interior design procedures for production and documentation, including preparation of presentation materials and presentations is highly recommended. Minimum 2 years of Revit experience required. Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus. NCIDQ Certification is desired. LEED Accreditation preferred.
Salary Range: $80,000 to $90,000
Education
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university. Minimum of ten years of practical experience in interior design with Revit/CAD drafting, and presentation techniques.
NCIDQ Certification is desired.
Knowledge/Skills
Thorough knowledge of interior design practice, including dealing with clients, architects, consultants, and contractors. Experience in working on an architectural team and/or leading an interior design team which includes appropriate engineering disciplines.
Knowledge and prior use of the current Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) Guidelines as it relates to Interior Design.
Experience in user interviewing, space planning, preparing interior design concepts, preparing presentation materials, and presenting to clients.
Knowledge and use of materials, products, finishes, and design standards used for Healthcare applications.
Working knowledge of interiors materials and details, millwork detailing, bidding and pricing procedures, code compliance, permit approval, and construction/installation process.
Knowledge of drafting techniques including Revit, CAD, and hand drafting and sketching.
Knowledge of interior design presentation techniques including knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, and/or other similar presentation software preferred.
Revit and/or 3-D software program experience preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Typical Duties
Establishes the interior design direction, goals, and guidelines of a project in conjunction with the Principal-in-Charge and/or Interior Design Director.
Works directly under the Principal-in-Charge or Interior Design Director on interiors projects, or as part of an architectural team on a project.
Manages and produces smaller projects and manages the work efforts of an interior design team on larger projects.
Assists Principal-in-Charge and/or Interior Design Director in establishing project budgets, preparing proposals, and assigning project teams.
Collaborates with Principal-in-Charge and/or Interior Design Director on projects as needed. Works with clients to establish user requirements. Develops space layout diagrams to fix sizes and relationships of spaces. Develops design concepts and prepares presentation materials. Participates in presentation of concepts to the client.
Oversees the design and development of interior design concepts, plans, elevations, sections, and details.
Reviews project design plans for design quality standards and adherence to project design requirements.
Ensures compliance with local building codes as they relate to interior design projects.
Directs assigned assistants, other interior designers, and/or interns.
Develops interiors concepts including aesthetics, budgets, and schedule aspects, and manages the implementation process.
Work includes establishing staff requirements, managing consultants, and coordinating with project architect/project manager, maintaining client satisfaction throughout the process.
Mentors junior interior designers and interior designers and reviews and provides recommendations for career development of these individuals.
