Associate Director of the SU Annual Fund

to lead impactful campaigns, build lasting relationships, and play a vital role in increasing alumni engagement and annual support. Reporting to the Director of the SU Annual Fund, you’ll work with a dedicated team to support our university’s growth and success. This position is defined as an exempt position under FLSA regulations.

What You’ll Do:

As the Associate Director of the SU Annual Fund, your key responsibilities include:

Lead and Manage Key Fundraising Campaigns

Reunion Giving : Plan and oversee reunion-based fundraising campaigns, set ambitious participation and dollar goals, and recruit class agents to drive engagement and success.

Young Alumni & Affinity Group Fundraising : Create tailored strategies for young alumni and affinity groups using digital, direct mail, and social media campaigns to meet participation and fundraising targets.

Class Agent Program : Develop and manage a volunteer-driven Class Agent program to increase peer-to-peer outreach, engagement, and giving participation.

Engage with Donors and Prospects

Donor Outreach : Perform face-to-face meetings and solicitations with prospective donors to gauge interest and capacity in supporting the university.

Stewardship and Relationship Building : Ensure young alumni donors are appropriately stewarded and build strong working relationships with university partners to enhance campaign success.

Collaborate on University-Wide Events

Support the planning and execution of major events such as Homecoming & Reunion Weekend, Family Weekend, Break Through, and the Annual Scholarship Dinner, working alongside other university divisions to advance the university’s goals.

Contribute to University Advancement

Collaborate with the Advancement Division on major annual fund campaigns such as OneSU and explore new fundraising opportunities.

Work closely with major gift officers to identify and prioritize leadership-giving prospects.

Required QualificationsEducation : Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience : Three years of experience in philanthropic fundraising, nonprofit organizations, public relations, advertising, marketing, or a related field is required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities : Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Excellent telephone etiquette and conversational abilities. Proficient in using database software, email, calendar tools, and Microsoft Office Suite. Capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to effectively engage and collaborate with alumni, parents, students, faculty, and administration. Self-motivated with the capacity to work independently and proactively. Willingness and ability to travel as required. Comfortable with frequent interaction with students, alumni, parents, and staff, with occasional contact with faculty.

Additional Requirements

Flexibility in work hours as the position requires some weekends, occasional evening and overnight travel.

This position requires a valid driver’s license, and the ability to drive and qualify under the university’s insurance carrier when driving a university and/or leased vehicle.

This role is identified as one that includes significant interaction with students and/or campus activities, and/or has oversight for disciplinary procedures. Therefore, you are considered a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and required to report any Clery Act crime disclosed to you and remain compliant with annual CSA training requirements.
