Planner Estimator (Part-Time)

Position Summary:Life Cycle Engineering is currently recruiting Planner/Estimators with expertise in Mechanical, Electrical, and Combat Systems OR Structural systems to support the Engineering and Planning Department (Code 200) at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY&IMF) as a Planner/Estimator on a part-time basis.

Clearance Requirement:Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DOD Secret security clearance.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Provide Trouble Desk support and engineering technician services, including development of detailed specifications, material, QA and test requirements, project estimating, material procurement, documents, and technical correspondence and provide technical resolutions via a DL.Perform ship checks for actual shipboard conditions.Prepare and develop Task Group Instructions/Technical Work Documents utilizing the following systems; AIM, AIM-XP, AIM4RMC, NMD computer programs.Review Job Summaries/ TGIs written.Research and prepare JMLs and order all materials via MRQT using APLs as needed to accomplish work.Provide Trouble Desk support and Mechanical design engineering technician.Review, revise and issue Ships Force CU phases of scheduled project maintenance and testing.Compile Allowance Parts Lists (APL).SDI, TDMIS, NSEDR, etc. drawing/technical research.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.At least 10 years practical engineering experience which should include the operation, test, maintenance and repair of naval surface ships or equivalent military training and/or experience in a public or private shipyard environment.Experience, knowledge of SRF method of developing TWDs and working collectively with Japanese nationals (MLC).Extensive experience in DDG, CG, LCC and CVN Class Ships and surface ship maintenance, repairs and modernization.Specialized experience for Mechanical position:

general knowledge of the following systems; Main Propulsion Boilers, Shafting and Rudder, Piping systems (Air, Water, Steam, Lube Oil, CHT, etc.), Main Reduction Gear (MRG).Specialized experience for Electrical/Electronic position:

general knowledge of the following systems; Electrical Power Generations (SSTG), Lighting Distribution and Fixtures, AC/DC Switchboards, Radar, Radio, ECM, Sonar, Mast and Antenna.Specialized experience for Structural position:

general knowledge of the following system; Superstructure, Hull Tanks, Built-In, Structural Bulkheads, Trunks and Enclosures, Platform, and Non Structural Bulkhead.Specialized experience for Combat Systems position:

general knowledge of the following systems; Sonar, Navigation, Mast and Antenna.Familiarity with the following systems: Advance Industrial Management (AIM) Ship's Drawing Indexes (SDI), Allowance Parts Lists (APL), MRQT, and MAT.Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items (NSIs) and Technical Authority.Must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Strong organizational skills.

Physical Demands and Expectations:Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, standing and prolonged sitting.Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance.Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment.
