Position SummaryThe role of Engagement and Annual Giving Programs is to build a strong and lasting connection between the university and its community, nurturing a sense of pride, belonging, and active involvement. We strive to establish a pathway that enables alumni, parents, and friends to develop a lifelong philanthropic relationship with WashU, contributing to its growth, sustainability, and continued excellence.

The Class and University Programs team provides opportunities to create meaningful engagement opportunities through WashU undergraduate reunion programs, Founders Day, and Student Engagement Programs.

The Associate Director reports to the Director, Reunion and Class Gift Programs, Class and University Programs. The primary area of focus will be development and implementation of events on and off campus to cultivate, maintain, and strengthen alumni engagement with the University through undergraduate Reunion Programming.

Job DescriptionPrimary Duties and Responsibilities

Assists Reunion and Class Gift Programs staff with the development and implementation of reunion events, including securing event space and working with external vendors, caterers and service providers, developing training for colleagues who will be working at the events, providing event summaries and analysis.

Actively engages and stewards reunion volunteer committees, coordinating meetings, preparing materials, and other related activities.

Provides on-site assistance at numerous events including Reunion, Founders Day, Student Programs, Alumni Board of Governors meetings, and others.

Works with Associate Director, Reunion Class Gift, to ensure Class Giving is woven into committee communication and reunion events.

Assists Director, Reunion and Class Gift Programs, with event metrics and analysis to ensure that programs are effective and successful, proactively identifying opportunities for growth within university programming.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in alumni relations, event planning, or higher education.

Experience working in a professional office setting.

Prior or current involvement in campus and/or community organizations and activities.

Experience working with Customer Relationship Management software/platform.

Outstanding oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work successfully with administration, faculty, alumni, parents and volunteers as appropriate.

Ability to listen carefully, learn quickly, and work effectively in a complex organization.

Exceptional interpersonal skills: demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships.

Able to prioritize and multi-task effectively.

Desire and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across development offices, as well as independently.

Ability to stay task-oriented without supervision.

Honesty, integrity, and enthusiasm; a very strong work ethic, supported by commitment and follow-through.

Demonstrated strength in organizational and project management skills.

Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of University Advancement and the activities of the department.

Desire to play a meaningful role in the university’s community and to share in the community’s commitment to education and research.

Knowledge of and proficiency with computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, FileMaker Pro) and standard office equipment.

Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years of related experience.

Salary Range$58,400.00 - $99,700.00 / Annually. The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
