Hyatt Place Salt Lake City/Downtown/The Gateway is a stylish hotel in downtown Salt Lake City, featuring 128 guest rooms, The Placery at the lobby bar, an outdoor pool, and 1,000 sq. ft. of event space.

The hotel is conveniently located just east of Highway 15 on N. 400 West at North Temple Street, with free on-site parking for employees and easy access to several TRAX and bus stations, as well as being .3 miles east of the FrontRunner North Temple train station.

Job overview

The Director of Guest Services (DGS) is responsible for leading and managing the Front Desk, Night Audit, Accounting, Concierge, Guest Services, and Reservations. This role ensures attentive, courteous, and efficient service to all guests prior to arrival and throughout their stay while maximizing suite revenue and occupancy.

Your day-to-day

Interview, select, train, schedule, coach, and support associates to ensure performance aligns with established brand and hotel standards.

Create actionable plans to address guest service deficiencies.

Practice safe work habits and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.

Oversee property accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable.

Maintain regular attendance in compliance with LodgeWorks standards.

Check guests in and out professionally.

Ensure compliance with brand standard operating procedures.

Maintain personnel and payroll records as per LodgeWorks policies.

Prepare and submit reports to the General Manager and corporate management as requested.

Communicate effectively with guests and associates.

Address guest concerns proactively.

Assist in F&B operations to ensure compliance and satisfaction.

Oversee vendor and personnel contracts within your department.

Monitor front office financial operations for compliance.

Work towards improving guest satisfaction scores.

Set goals for direct reports and provide feedback for improvement.

Serve as Manager on Duty.

Conduct monthly one-on-one and departmental meetings.

Familiarize and communicate hotel emergency procedures.

Review reports and financial statements to assess operational performance.

Assist with any other tasks as requested by management.
