Director of InvestigationsThe Director of Investigations (DOI) serves as an individual contributor and supervises others in conducting sensitive internal investigations that allege discrimination, sexual misconduct, and retaliation for the University of Houston System's Office of Equal Opportunity Services (EOS). The DOI will also be responsible for overseeing all of the special investigations assigned by the AVC/AVP, General Counsel, or other appropriate administrators. This includes directing the activities of the Equal Opportunity Specialists within EOS, as well as any other investigator that has been assigned in accordance with equal opportunity policies.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the management and timely investigation of complaints of discrimination, sexual misconduct, and retaliation.

Provides consistent and effective supervision of the Equal Opportunity Specialists within EOS and any other investigator that has been assigned to investigate complaints of discrimination, sexual misconduct, and retaliation.

Prepares and reviews investigative reports and summaries of findings which may include recommendations that appropriately address issues contained in equal opportunity complaints.

Develops comprehensive plans for record retention, case management, and investigation policies, as well as procedures and protocols. Conduct routine audits to ensure compliance with same.

Serves as the primary contact for assisting with the preparation, collection, and dissemination of fact-related requests for information.

Prepares a yearly trend and analysis report and weekly reports for the AVC/AVP for Equal Opportunity Services.

Assesses institutional risk and works with System partners to implement appropriate measures and controls to reduce said risk.

Serves as the Equal Opportunity Services liaison for the Conduct Assessment Response Team and other interdepartmental committees or task forces that Equal Opportunity Services participates on.

Develops policies related to current legal trends and legislative updates related to discrimination, sexual misconduct, and retaliation.

Conducts compliance training with respect to unlawful education and employment discrimination, harassment prevention, and other related misconduct.

Manages the ADA accommodations process and procedures.

Maintains high levels of responsiveness, follow-through, and customer service.

Performs other job-related duties as required.

QualificationsBachelors and 5 years' experience.

Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4-year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Preferred: JD.

Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.

Certification/Licensing: None.
