The

Massachusetts General Hospital Heart Center's Cardiac Arrhythmia Service and Electrophysiology (EP) Lab

are internationally recognized for pioneering contributions to the treatment of heart rhythm disorders, offering patients the most advanced approaches to the evaluation and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. The Electrophysiology Lab offers advanced therapies including catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia and other complex cardiac arrhythmias; implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) for the prevention of sudden cardiac death; cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) for patients with congestive heart failure and laser lead extraction.

Our

Cardiovascular Technologist/Radiology Technologist

is a critical member of the Electrophysiology (EP) Lab team. This position requires completion of orientation, independently performing pacing and other tasks for all procedures, necessary familiarity with troubleshooting equipment and demonstrates ability to orient other members of the team.

Qualifications

Candidate must have graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited school of Cardiovascular Technology or in a related field of study;

or

have graduated with an Associates Degree from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and must be certified by the ARRT and possess a valid license to practice as a radiologic technologist in Massachusetts.

Two years of previous CVT/RT experience preferred.

Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) preferred.

Completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 3 months of hire preferred / within 12 months of hire required.

Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

Must possess strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills; maintain a high standard of professionalism at all times; foster effective working relationships with departments and other hospital personnel; and promote interdisciplinary teamwork and collaboration.Demonstrates proficiency with sterile technique. Must be able to pass off all products used during a sterile procedure, prep a sterile table for all cases, as well as maintain a sterile field while draping and prepping patients for all EP procedures.Must demonstrate sound judgment and initiative in a variety of situations, and successfully prioritize the multiple responsibilities encompassed within the position, and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.Must possess strong analytical and organizational skills necessary to perform multiple tasks; must be able to prioritize the responsibilities of this unique position and to adapt to the changing pace of the lab.Implements safe, competent and efficient procedure care within policies, procedures and standards of care across a variety of populations and complexity of situations within the scope of practice.Demonstrates basic knowledge of radiological equipment and safety, shielding techniques, expert imaging skills, troubleshooting, analyzing 12 lead EKG as well as various intracardiac leads and several other pieces of equipment utilized within the EP Lab.
