SUMMARYThe Divisional Merchandise Manager (DMM) ensures the most current merchandise is available for customers and keeping up with industry trends. The DMM is responsible for the presentation of merchandise as it relates to the athletic and streetwear industry. The DMM sets the strategic direction for his or her respective area and is responsible for the achievement of the division’s financial goals. The DMM is consistently looking for the newest and latest trends and categories to profitably grow their departments. Directly influences the buyers as they translate customer and competitive information into action that drives category specific growth and increase profitability in support of City Gear goals and objectives. Works towards carrying out the toe-to-head merchandising strategy at the store level. Creates a collaborative team of internal talent and external partnerships resulting in cultivating a superior customer experience and product assortment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESWorks with other DMMs to develops, recommends, and implements the business plan for the assigned area of merchandise.Directs merchandise selection process and reviews Buyer’s assortments to ensure adherence to strategic and financial objectives.Meets with the Buying team monthly to effectively manage sales, inventory, and overall profitability. Provides VP/GMM with updates and assists as needed.Sets e-commerce site and category strategy, including price positioning, point of view, key brands and assortment focus.Works directly with Marketing team to detail seasonal ideas through tiered calendar and master calendarCollaborates with the Visual Marketing department to ensure the in-store experience reflects the company's strategy and vision.Collaborates with the Inventory Management team to ensure distribution strategies are executed and assists with store level inventory concernsWorks in partnership with Operations team to gain and provide feedback to help drive additional revenue through Merch council calls, RVP meetings etcDevelops and manages a team of Senior Buyers, Buyers, Associate Buyers, and Buyers Assistants. Responsible for hiring, developing, and managing the performance of the team.Keeps VP, GMM current on assigned division.Collaborates with other DMMs to ensure alignment of all merchandise strategies.Develops and drives business strategies for the division and creates a course of action for the Buyers and Planners to follow to meet financial goals.Identifies new business opportunities and risks.Translates industry trends and consumer insights into a strong assortment and merchandising strategy.Owns, manages and prioritizes multiple projects simultaneously with high-quality output and attention to detail, appropriately delegates tasks, and provides support for all team members.Serves as category head in executive meetings.Partners with the SVP/Chief Merchant and VP/GMM’s empowered to make decisions that support the global brand strategy and represent the customer's best interest.Approves and oversees all return to vendors (RTV’s).Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management and/or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThe DMM directly supervises a team of Buyer Assistants, Buyers, and Senior Buyers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; performance appraisals; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in merchandising or a related field or equivalent experience.7 or more years of experience in merchandising, specifically buying.Experience working for a retail company, specifically in footwear and athletic apparel.Experience with Microsoft Office.Experience building and coaching a team of internal talent and buying experts.Experience creating and executing strategic visions and plans.Understanding of the Hibbett I City Gear customer. Ability to identify, gather, and assimilate information specific to our customers.The ability to develop and communicate a vision of the business that translate into bottom line performance.The ability to delegate and direct the daily activities of the buyers and provide direction to the team.The ability to develop partnerships with other functional heads.Hibbett's Privacy PolicyCandidates will have an option during the application process to withdraw their application prior to completion of the application.
