Position Purpose

BGCSF is seeking a Membership and Outreach Specialist. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications and in close collaboration with Club and Program Leadership, this role will serve as a key representative of the organization and the primary point person for youth member recruitment and a close collaborator in member communications.

The Membership and Outreach Specialist will be responsible for achieving established membership goals through data-driven recruitment practices. This role will support Club leaders and the Camp leadership in developing and implementing a comprehensive membership marketing plan, with a primary focus on member recruitment.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of success in marketing and sales, and experience with generating and delivering a recruitment strategy rooted in an established brand identity. This role requires flexibility, creativity, tenacity, and attention to detail. The successful candidate will have excellent communications skills and must be driven to support the mission of BGCSF and promote its programs to a range of communities across San Francisco.

This position is full time, supporting the Marketing Department at the John N. Callander Administrative Office. This position is benefits eligible.

Key Responsibilities

Outreach Strategy Development and Implementation (50%)

Develop and execute a comprehensive outreach and member recruitment plan under the guidance of the Vice President of Marketing & Communications.

Increase average daily attendance, regular membership, and total youth served across 13 Clubs in San Francisco and a residential summer camp in Mendocino County.

Regularly meet with the Senior Vice President of Club Services, Vice President of Club Services, and the Senior Director of Evaluation & Impact to discuss strategies, track progress, and set future plans.

Coordinate with the Marketing Department to generate highly-engaging recruitment materials that promote individual Club offerings, while maintaining brand consistency.

Events and Partnership Cultivation (15%)

Working with Club and Camp leaders, represent BGCSF at recruitment fairs and relevant community/partner events.

Organize information sessions for prospective members and partners, including creating presentations for virtual and live events.

Cultivate relationships with key partners and schools to identify trends for recruitment strategies and marketing collateral.

Contribute to the retention of new members by providing successful onboarding tools for new families by supporting activities such as orientation presentations and the creation of new member collateral.

Collaborate with Club leadership on membership recruitment events that engage current members in outreach activities.

Analysis and Reporting (35%)

Manage and analyze the distribution of materials to prospective members and partners through various communication platforms.

Generate quarterly progress reports that synthesize data and inform next steps based on the analysis.

Regularly attend Club leadership and Marketing Committee meetings and report on recruitment planning, collateral effectiveness results, keeping key constituents engaged and informed in the member recruitment process.

Evaluate the impact of outreach efforts and adjust strategies to optimize outcomes.

Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree and three years of related professional experience.

Proven ability to collect, analyze data, and use insights to inform distribution plans and strategies.

Knowledge and successful application of marketing and sales strategies.

Motivated to learn new technologies; self-driven; able to prioritize workloads.

Strong oral/written communication skills, time management and organizational skills.

Ability to implement brand guidelines and best practices into innovative new techniques.

Must be flexible to work evenings, weekends, and travel locally to recruitment events.

Preferred Skills

Related experience in the youth development, education, or non-profit field.

2+ years of experience in Marketing or Sales.

Experience with youth outreach in San Francisco.

Proven subject matter expert with Salesforce.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

Must be able to stand for at least 2 hours consecutively.

Must be able to sit at a computer workstation for long time periods.

Pay:

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and BGCSF needs. At BGCSF, our decisions are based on other factors and dependent on circumstances for each position. Depending on the need and requirement of the position, an individual could be hired at or near the entry level, mid-level or top of the range for their role and compensation. As such, a reasonable estimate of the current range is $63K-$68K.
