This position will manage all aspects of Consumer Lending production to meet objectives and implement corporate, divisional, and departmental goals. The individual in this position will work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve successful outcomes for the division and company and will represent Washington Trust in a manner that enhances its brand through extensive contact with internal/external customers and the community.This position is responsible for administering policies and procedures with a strong focus on process improvement, quality controls, and regulatory compliance, as well as leveraging available technology to consistently improve the overall customer experience.Essential job responsibilities include:Evaluating workflow and staffing levels against requirements and making recommendations for improvements as needed.Evaluating products and rates, making recommendations, and implementing changes.Ensuring policies and procedures are current; ensuring the team is trained appropriately.Working with Retail Lending Sales and Retail Banking Training for training and compliance.Conducting process reviews towards continuous improvements.Ensuring compliance with a "strong" rating on various audits with no findings of moderate or higher severity related to the areas this position oversees.Evaluating technology for cost/benefits.Reviewing options for new ways to utilize technologies for efficiencies and customer experience.Actively managing staff performance providing feedback, coaching, and evaluation.Identifying growth opportunities and mentoring.Managing schedules for coverage and ensuring team members are cross-trained to provide backup. If needed, this position will provide support to the team by completing tasks traditionally assigned to subordinate employees to ensure quality customer service.Managing costs to meet objectives and budget forecasts.This position requires at least five years of experience managing consumer lending, mortgage lending, or operations team(s) within a bank environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required. The successful candidate for this position will be familiar with real estate and consumer loan regulations and the required underwriting guidelines and documentation requirements for each type of credit. This position requires strong knowledge of loan origination documentation systems (Encompass and MeridianLink LoansPQ preferred), as well as intermediate-level MS Office skills. Previous financial products or mortgage industry sales experience is required. NMLS required.
