We strive to make things simple, intuitive & delightful.As we gear up for 2024, two of our big investments will focus on building an ethically-sound ResearchOps practice and evolving our fledgling Design System to address our product ecosystem’s technical complexity, accessibility conformance, and globalization considerations.Reporting to the Admin Product Design Manager, you’ll be a key partner to PM and Engineering for driving strategic product decisions. In addition, you will be a part of a core team of product designers responsible for researching and designing what’s next for our customers across the product ecosystem.At this level, your role is relatively autonomous but never isolated, as collaboration and continuous improvement are core tenets at Zonar. You’ll be expected to balance your focus and efforts between generative work for product launches and operational work to improve our efficiency and speed-to-market.And since we’re an end to end product design team, you’ll spend your days running your own research activities, facilitating design sprints and in-house discovery workshops, going deep on highly complex workflows, crafting modular UI solutions that add to our design language at the atomic level, and presenting to groups large and small at every level of the organization — all in the spirit of helping Zonar make better decisions faster.RequirementsLead and create UX design solutions for projects across multiple platforms and screens.Apply excellent UX know-how and experience to analyze user and content requirements, define user flow and information structure, and describe intended user experience through means such as storyboards, story maps, app/site maps, wireframes, and prototypes.Gather design insights by leading and leveraging user research such as interviews, competitive audits, contextual inquiry, concept testing, and usability testing.Lead sense-making activities to surface key insights and requirements, driving the most important actions and design strategies.Form product vision and help stakeholders make tough, informed decisions to define MVP and product requirements.Design interaction diagrams, flows, and digital experiences.Excel at the prototyping process, moving quickly from whiteboarding to paper to digital and interactive. Can immediately identify the appropriate level of fidelity needed to execute a proof of concept.Strong visual designer skilled in Figma, with expertise in web-based UI and interaction design.Can create visual design systems for digital products, including typographic rules, visual hierarchy, color palettes, grid definitions, icons, implementation guides, interaction patterns, and components libraries.Ability to apply and test WCAG and other accessibility guidelines to UI designs.In addition to the typical “table-stakes” expected for any product design role, Zonar Systems is looking for a candidate with the following qualities:You don’t shy away from complex problems that require deep thinking.You have strong opinions that sit at the intersection of “good for people” with “good for business”.You can plan and estimate your work efforts and have mastered the art of diplomatically saying “no”.You embrace ambiguity and have proven ways to uncover what the user and business needs are.You consistently deliver quality work on time, using the most appropriate fidelity to encourage the right conversations for each phase of the project.You’re willing to give and receive clear, respectful feedback to others in a way that helps make their work even better.You like to dream big, start small, and learn fast — and you encourage others to do so as well.5+ years of experience at a senior designer level or higher.What sets you apart:Strong proficiency in information design and data visualization principles.You’ve designed experiences for multiple languages and globally diverse audiences.You’ve designed experiences that meet/exceed WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance standards.Stellar writing skills for internal and public-facing artifacts; expertise in UX Writing a plus.Understanding of best practices for modern Design Systems; demonstrated success a plus.You’ve demonstrated success collaborating and driving outcomes across cross-functional teams.You can influence change through strong relationships and communications excellence.Product Designers at Zonar enjoy:Outstanding health benefits with both HSA and FSA options.Generous PTO offering (including company-wide multi-day holiday between Christmas & New Year).Matching 401(k) and access to financial planners.Wellness and employee-assistance programs.Work-from-home flexibility.Tons of corporate discounts — from tires to pet insurance.ABOUT THE ORGANIZATIONMore than 20 years ago, Zonar was founded on the belief that safety is for everyone.
