Associate Director, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
to join our team in San Diego. This pivotal role will be instrumental in driving financial strategy and delivering high-impact insights for our Commercial and Corporate functions. The
Associate Director, FP&A , will act as a strategic financial partner, providing expert guidance and leadership on financial, operational, and strategic matters across various internal teams.In this role, the Associate Director, FP&A
will leverage their deep understanding of the life sciences sector to shape key business decisions, ensure the achievement of financial goals, and optimize capital deployment. They will be a key player in navigating complex financial landscapes and collaborating with diverse stakeholders to advance our business objectives.The ideal candidate will thrive both independently and as part of a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment. A proactive approach, strong initiative, and excellent follow-through are crucial for success. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Finance and is based in our San Diego office.If you possess the following and want to make a meaningful impact, we invite you to explore this role.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Drive the financial planning cycle, including quarterly financial forecasts, annual budgets, long-range plans, scenario planning, and performance monitoringAct as a key business partner across Commercial and Corporate teams, providing strategic financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making and strategic initiativesPrepare and present financial performance reports to senior management, highlighting key insights and actionable recommendationsEvaluate the financial implications of strategic decisions, operational changes, and external partnerships, proposing mitigation strategies as necessaryDevelop / maintain a strong partnership with the other internal groups and Finance colleagues to develop and share best practicesSupport evaluation, design, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and system upgradesSupport ad hoc analyses and special projects across the organization, providing timely and accurate financial insightsWork closely with the accounting team and ensure the complete, accurate and timely processing of the monthly close processThe role requires comfort with ambiguity, collaborative problem-solving, and the capability to manage complex work streams with multiple stakeholdersThe successful candidate will have a proven track record and the ability to function in a rapidly growing environment and demonstrate creativity, select ability, and innovative strategies pertaining to all financial matters is essentialThe ability to provide the senior executives with the necessary financial and modeling information to make effective decisionsEducation and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in finance, or a related field of study with successful experience as finance business partnerMinimum 8 years(w/o Master's) or 6+ years (with Master's) years of relevant experience in biotech or life sciences industryProven financial analysis and revenue budgeting, forecasting and analysis background for global commercial organizationsStrong cross-functional collaboration skills, with a variety of internal and external stakeholdersAbility to work within a team, sharing ideas for best practices and process improvementsAbility to communicate technical or complex issues with clarity to non-financial individualsMust be proactive and possess the ability to work independentlyStrong problem-solving skills, especially related to financial system integrationExperience using financial forecasting software such as NetSuite, Hyperion, SAP, and OraclePossess a basic understanding of valuation principalsPhysical Requirements:Frequently moves boxes weighing up to 20 poundsLocation:San DiegoTravel:Up to 10% domestic travelJob Type:Full-time/ExemptBase Compensation Pay Range$156,000 - $184,000In addition to base compensation noted above, you will be eligible for stock options, discretionary annual bonus, no cost health insurance plans, 401k with company match, and flexible paid time off.Please note: Base compensation will depend on multiple factors, including geographic location, qualifications, and experience.We foster an environment such that all people are afforded the freedom to pursue their passions without regard to race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin, gender (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, veteran status or any other characteristics protected by law.
