Department SummaryThe Wildfire, Emergency & Operations (WEO) team ensures the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers through safe and effective System Operations, mitigation of wildfire risk, and emergency management. WEO is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's wildfire mitigation, risk reduction and emergency management including planning, restoration, and emergency response. Through our leadership we strive to stop all catastrophic wildfires and ensure that everyone and everything is always safe.

Position SummaryThe WEO Strategy Chief will initially report to the Director of Wildfire Preparedness Operations, after which it will transition to the Senior Vice President of WEO. The Strategy Chief develops and collaborates with senior leaders, business partners and external stakeholders on strategic opportunities and advancement of WEO's programs and mission. Drives senior leader partnerships across lines of business and key departments to develop long-term strategic plans that mitigate risk while building upon market trends and opportunities. Leads negotiations of partnership agreements and commercial transactions. Partners with various lines of business to ensure that plans and programs support strategic, financial, operational plans and goals.

The Chief also provides strategic direction and leverages a highly matrixed, cross functional team to ensure enterprise-wide engagement and support for WEO's organizations and program for the benefit of customers, co-workers and the Company. The Chief will identify key opportunities to reduce wildfire risk, improve electric reliability, and support partner organizations in delivering a continuously improving Wildfire Strategy and Wildfire Mitigation Programs.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

Salary Range:

Bay Area Minimum: $193,000

Bay Area Maximum: $329,000

California Minimum: $183,000

California Maximum: $313,000

Reporting RelationshipThis role reports into the Senior Director, Wildfire Preparedness Operations.

Job Responsibilities

Understands the interdependencies between risks and helps identifies mutually beneficial mitigation strategies.

Builds and maintains strong relationships with business units and external agencies.

Works with all levels of management and senior leadership across functions to influence decisions.

Handles at least one of the most complex agreements, contracts, or programs.

Manages the most complex and highest value business development activities within the department.

Develops and implements effective business strategies in support of the company and department.

Negotiates and settles issues strategically.

Seeks new and/or sustains current affiliations with governmental, political, community, and emergency services officials and organizations.

In addition to the general responsibilities of a Strategy Chief in WEO, the role will serve as a deputy leader for the team, helping to drive activity across the team and representing the company during external outreach. Key areas of focus for the WEO Strategy Chief include:

Reporting and AnalysisThese activities include developing and tracking metrics and data around wildfire mitigations, system operations, and emergency preparedness and response activities to assess progress and measure success; facilitating the tracking of wildfire mitigation work at all levels; developing and maintaining prioritization models; and general analytical support of WEO's programs and initiatives, including the technical content being presented to external stakeholders.

ComplianceThese activities include developing and maintaining a comprehensive list of compliance requirements and activities for WEO organizations and programs; monitoring and tracking progress and adherence to both external and internal requirements; helping team integrate compliance into their work; and problem solving and leading initiatives to address internal barriers to information sharing, including customer privacy and electric grid data.

Change ManagementThese activities include developing work plans that are responsive to program and initiative needs and concerns; developing processes and prioritization models to ensure efficient and effective wildfire mitigation work; integrating disparate initiatives into projects that meet complex needs for resiliency; and representing the feedback from local outreach in internal planning to help the Company maintain focus on its core responsibilities.

Background QualificationsMinimum

Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or other relevant discipline or equivalent experience.

10 years of relevant experience in areas such as: electric construction, maintenance, service planning, compliance, financial planning or quality control/assurance.

3 years leadership or team lead experience.

Desired

Master's degree in relevant field.

Experience in energy industry.

Experience with strategic planning and engagement with internal and external partners on plan development.

Competency in influencing and aligning disparate stakeholders to achieve unified vision that motivates others to action.

Knowledge of science and engineering principles; Professional Engineer or similar.

Experience with wildfire mitigation and emergency response.

Direct operational experience with operational wildfire mitigations or similar programs.

Experience with response, recovery, and resiliency planning.

Experience with data management and analytics including project management, governance, and reporting for complex projects or programs.

Experience with due financial due diligence, compliance audits, and performance analysis.

Experience in the identification and mitigation of project risks across a wide range of utility project types.

Proven track record of delivery under difficult circumstances.

History of adapting approach and demeanor to achieve favorable outcomes in varied and challenging situations.
