PLEASE ALSO SUBMIT A PORTFOLIO - THANKS!NOTE - This is an onsite role in LA (DTLA, Fashion District)OVERVIEW: XÍRENA's Associate Designer will collaborate and partner with the Director of Design and Creative Director to design and execute seasonal lines that reflect the XÍRENA aesthetic.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)Work closely with the Design Director to sketch/plan designs based on seasonal directionSketch clear CAD's to hand off to the Tech Designer, Pattern-Makers and to post onto the line plan (updating sketches as needed when there are changes)Strong import backgroundDomestic background is a plusResearch and create tests/prototypes/techniques/embroideries/trims for imports and domesticWork with factories and/or local vendors to develop new techniques/treatments/shapes, and to follow through to SMS to meet our price targets/T&A calendarSketch, and work on tech packs for in-house pattern makers, and importsFollow designs through fittings with the Pattern Maker to final samplesResearch and stay current on trends and proposing/presenting new ideas for the collection based on directionCommenting on strike-off/handloom submits of fabrics and trimsAttend fabric and vintage showsPrepping and lending a hand for our photoshootsResearch trends online and shops domesticallySKILLS/REQUIREMENTSStrong problem-solving skills along with the ability to multi-task, and prioritizeClear and effective verbal and written communication skillsKnowledge of construction and execution of a garmentExperience executing tech packsHighly developed organization and time management skillsHigh level of accuracy and attention to detailMust have excellent Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skillsKnowledge of washes and shrinkage a plus5+ years min. of experience as a designerPLM knowledge a plusStrong CAD ability & knowledgeOur policy is to provide equal opportunity to all persons without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, citizenship, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, marital or family status, veteran status, physical or mental disability, or other protected classes prohibited by applicable law.
