Geographic Information System Analyst – UtilitiesFull-time PositionAnnual Salary:

$70,865.60 - $88,587.20 DOEAids the Utilities Department on geographical information systems projects.

Provide technical-level support for a multi-departmental Geographic Information System (GIS).

Use GIS technology to develop, maintain, and enhance Utilities infrastructure GIS data.

Essential Duties

Aids Utilities Department in developing and maintaining city utilities geographical information systems projects including all aspects of topographic and map production using ESRI software and other special projects as assigned. Consults with various departments as assigned to provide engineering guidance, design, and cost estimation for planning and budgetary purposes.Maintain geodatabase, enter metadata, and perform quality assurance (QA)/ quality control (QC) on all data entered.Perform data entry via keyboard; transfer files from AutoCAD and reformat digital data as needed to ensure compatibility within the GIS.Generate and modify features of the GIS technology.Create topology and perform edge matching.Add attributes/descriptive alphanumeric data to a digital map or to an existing attribute table.Create, maintain, and update geodatabases(s) using ArcCatalog.Maintain metadata for GIS data.Create maps using ESRI software.Perform spatial queries.Observe all safety rules and procedures.Serves as essential emergency personnel when required.Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the position.Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAININGGIS Certificate or associate degree or equivalent course work from an accredited technical school or community college with major studies in geographic information systems, geography, planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, computer science, or a related field, or three years of experience working with geographic information systems.

Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

Bachelor’s Degree in cartography, geography, GIS, or related field; experience and/or coursework in GIS and familiarity with remote sensing/satellite imagery interpretation would be desirable, but not required.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIREDValid Texas Driver's License and must be bondable.
