Assistant Director University Alumni Engagement in Development

UTHealth Houston's Development Office is looking for an Assistant Director of University Alumni Engagement. This employee will be responsible for implementing and managing a comprehensive alumni engagement program. They will work closely with internal and external partners to develop effective programming, events, communications, and volunteer opportunities to deepen their affinity for the institution. This will include working on alumni events that you will help plan and coordinate, such as our alumni weekend or reunion that happens annually. You must be able to help facilitate mini-reunions, conference receptions, and other programming that will involve medical school residents and fellows. You will contribute to experiential and communication efforts, which include our networking platforms and mentoring programs that connect alumni with current students and/or residents. The university alumni engagement assistant director also coordinates newsletters, invitations, and other communications about UTHealth Houston that go out to our graduates.This is a full-time position that is classified as exempt. You will be eligible for all UTHealth Houston benefits, including coverage through our healthcare plan and participation in a pension plan administered by the State of Texas. This role reports to our University Center Tower location. It will work a hybrid on-site and remote schedule with a lot of flexibility from person to person as needed.What we do here changes the world.

Maintains calendar of events, schedules meetings, arranges travel, prepares documents, and coordinates events, vendors, logistics, invitations, and budgets.Oversees the growth and continued development of school-based affinity groups with significant support to the McGovern Medical School residents and fellows.Recruits and collaborates with volunteer leadership to plan and implement alumni activities, communications, events, and projects that deepen engagement and partnerships with the University.Contributes to implementing and growing all experiential and communication activities, including networking platforms, mentorship programs, and developing printed and electronic communications.Provides reports and analyzes the performance of alumni programs and services for internal and external audiences with appropriate data and content.Ability to travel, staff events, and work evenings and weekends as needed.May manage department human resources activities in regard to recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.Performs other duties as assigned.Certification/Skills:Ability to learn new strategies.Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Good organizational and time management skills.Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.Strong skills in maintaining donor relationships.Working knowledge of a CRM system.Exhibits required job knowledge.Demonstrates personal effectiveness and accountability.Delivers quality student, patient, and customer service.Exhibits teamwork and collaboration.Exemplifies strong ethics, integrity, and respect for others.Adheres to all work environment, health, safety, and compliance standards.Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required.Six (6) years of related professional experience required. Experience in higher education, alumni relations, academic health care, or other non-profit setting preferred.Physical Requirements:Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.Security Sensitive:This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215.Residency Requirement:Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
