The Director of Operations (Highland Road Quartz Plant) is responsible for oversight of company policies, safety and environmental programs, quality, and manufacturing of quartz operations. This position sponsors and supports continuous improvement programs including 5S, kaizen events, and the variable cost productivity (VCP) portfolio. The Director drives productivity and optimization of the production capability of the site and establishes manufacturing strategy that aligns with business strategy.Responsibilities:Establish Environmental Health & Safety goals and metrics consistent with overall business objectives and ensure site compliance to standards & permits.Drive continued engagement from the workforce in employee health and safety.Provide direction and oversight of a multi-year expansion/growth initiative at the site.Represent site compliance to the ISO9001:2001 management system and monitor continuous improvement in quality-related metric performance.Partner with product managers to improve customer satisfaction by translating feedback/concerns into both strategic plans and tactical actions.Provide leadership for manufacturing initiatives around EHS improvement, capacity creation, productivity improvement, and process capability improvement.Demonstrate leadership in achieving results through the application of the continuous improvement toolkit.Collaborate across business functions (product management, finance, HR, etc.) to achieve site and business objectives.Facilitate strong communications across functions for an understanding of site activities/needs.Provide leadership and coaching to direct/indirect reports to nurture a culture of planning, responsibility, and accountability.Overall responsibility for developing the site annual operating plan (AOP).Track and report site metrics, identifying trends, and interacting with business leadership on site performance.Engage in inventory reduction programs as needed to support business goals.Participate with the team in daily Gemba, lead site communication meetings, and engage with the workforce in the plant environment.
