OverviewABOUT THE POSITIONVHB’s growing Hauppauge, NY office is seeking a Geomatics/Survey Project Manager to join our East Coast Geomatics team. The successful candidate must be knowledgeable in Land Surveying for a variety of applications, including boundary determinations, topographic surveys, utility surveys, highway surveys and subdivisions. The position requires up-to-date knowledge of current technologies, and a proven ability to manage land surveying projects. Must be familiar with New England, Northeast, and colonial land surveying.ResponsibilitiesProject management, including management of budget, scope, and schedule for small, moderate, and large land survey projectsManagement of project staff and clientsPerformance and/or oversight of surveying calculationsAnalysis and interpretation of public records research, including deeds, plans and other pertinent documents for the projectReviews and certifies work that staff has completed with a high-level of precision and accuracyKeeps accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performedCoordination of field crews and Survey/CAD TechniciansPerform field checks, manage quality control of all productsCoordinate survey efforts with other groups in an integrated services environmentAbility to perform “field to finish” land surveyingSkills and AttributesMust be knowledgeable in all aspects of Land Surveying, including legal requirements, boundary determinations and ALTA requirementsProficient in reading and understanding engineering, architectural, and structural drawingsKnowledge of local subdivision and zoning requirementsThorough understanding of the use of up-to-date survey technologies and interface with AutoCAD Civil 3DAbility to direct and monitor construction layout servicesExcellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsExcellent teamwork and collaboration skillsMotivated to lead and mentor othersQualifications5+ years of geomatics experience, including some experience managing projects years of fiscal/contract management experienceHigh school diploma or GEDDegree in Survey Engineering, Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, or related field preferredProfessional Land Surveyor license preferredExtensive experience using industry standard software for data collection, processing, management, and draftingMust be familiar with New York and colonial land surveyingExperience with remote sensing technologies such as UAV’s and terrestrial scanning is desirableExperience with ESRI software is desirable
