Welcome to the era of spatial computing! In the Vision Product Group at Apple we are developing high performance immersive devices that will inspire and delight our customers and allow them to share experiences like never before! The Product Design Engineer role will give you direct responsibility over the mechanical design of parts, assemblies and modules within Apple Vision products and own the analysis, assembly and reliability of these parts. This role spans the product design cycle from concept development, prototyping and testing, to collaborating with vendors to bring the design to life. You will engage in frequent multi-disciplinary collaboration with teams like Industrial Design, Project Management, Manufacturing, EE, Display, Camera, Antenna, Battery, Softgoods, Human Engineering, Human Factors, Safety and more.Minimum Qualifications

We are looking for an engineer with the following qualifications:1-2+ years of hands-on, consumer electronics product design experienceStrong mechanical engineering analytical skills, understanding of common engineering materials & manufacturing processesExperience working in technical project groups in a professional environmentProficiency in 3D CAD (any modeling package, NX preferred)Basic GD&T knowledge and experience creating and releasing 2D drawingsExperience performing tolerance analyses, interpretation of FEA, statistical analysisPractical experience working with external vendors (DFM, FAI/CPK)Consumer electronics knowledge across multiple disciplines: enclosures, displays, cameras, sensors, PCBs, flexes, antennas, batteries, thermals, mechanisms, optics and lensesExcellent communication skills (verbal and written) including emails, high quality slide presentations, and presenting technical concepts to multi-disciplinary teamsCreative problem solving, with experience in failure analysis, root cause investigation, and DOE creationDetail oriented and capable of handling multiple assignments at onceHands-on shop experiencePreferred Qualifications

EDUCATIONBSME required, MS or equivalent experience preferredPREFERRED EXPERIENCEFluent in Unigraphics NX including surfacing tools, statistical software (JMP), MacOSExperience working through entire product cycle including shipping product experienceExperience with design or integration of handheld or wearable component modules (displays, battery, cameras, flexes, antennas etc.)Experience with failure analysisExperience collaborating with Asian manufacturing facilities, specifically in high-volume mass productionAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $214,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
