Concord Singers, a non-auditioned treble community chorus in Summit, NJ is seeking an Assistant conductor for our performance year running from September 2024 - May 2025.
● Monday Rehearsals 7:15 – 9:15pm, at Calvary Episcopal Church in Summit, NJ.
● Occasional Chamber group rehearsals on Mondays 6:30 – 7:15pm.
CONCERT DATES:
○ Winter concert - Saturday, December 14, 2024 4PM
○ Spring concert - Saturday, May 10, 2025 7PM
ASSISTANT CONDUCTOR
This is a collaborative position designed to offer experience to a rising artist with a community ensemble.
Benefits:
Ample conducting experience, podium time, and performances of a variety of choral repertoire.
Collaborative and encouraging environment and networking opportunities.
Stipend:
$2000 for 2024-2025 Season (September-May)
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the artistic team (Artistic Director, Collaborative Pianist) during weekly rehearsals and sectionals (September – December, and January - May).
Rehearse and conduct 1-2 pieces on each concert.
Sing Soprano or Alto with the group on the full concert program.
Assist in planning and offer insight into future artistic programming and initiatives.
Lead full rehearsals/conduct in the absence of the Artistic Director.
Facilitate and lead sectional rehearsals on occasion.
Lead vocal warm-ups as appropriate.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Choral Conducting or Music Education, or commensurate experience.
Desire for working with community musicians and possess a belief in a collaborative and encouraging musical culture.
Strong knowledge of vocal production, choral technique, rehearsal strategies, performance practice, and refining musical nuance.
Be able to reliably travel to Summit, NJ and surrounding areas for rehearsals and performances.
Be able to sing Soprano or Alto in the choir.
