Job Summary

The Director of Operations is responsible for the overall operational efficiency and effectiveness of Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri (CCCNMO). This role involves developing and implementing strategies, managing program operations, overseeing facilities, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulations.

Possesses a strong commitment to the mission of Catholic Charities, including the understanding of Catholic Social Teaching and the ability to demonstrate the philosophy and values of the agency. The identity of the agency is clearly Catholic. As such, Catholic Charities adheres to the social and moral teachings of the Catholic Church. This is a full-time, exempt position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Planning:

Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with CCCNMO’s mission and goals.

Contribute to the development of organizational goals and long-term plans.

Guide feasibility and sustainability for potential programs and organizational expansion.

Program Oversight:

Provide operational guidance for program development and implementation.

Collaborate with program directors and the finance director on program and grant budgets and financial reporting.

Supervise program directors, ensuring adequate staffing and a positive work environment.

Operational Excellence:

Identify and implement systems improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Monitor key metrics to ensure timely completion of tasks and strategic objectives.

Develop strategies to optimize program growth and process improvements.

Facilities Management:

Supervise the office coordinator’s management of CCCNMO facilities.

Ensure facilities are maintained and effectively support programs and services.

Coordinate renovations, repairs, and improvements.

Compliance and Governance:

Ensure adherence to agency policies, standards, and applicable laws and regulations.

Assist the Executive Director in setting strategic priorities and refining the organization’s vision.

Provide leadership that aligns with CCCNMO’s mission and core values.

Leadership and Management:

Oversee staffing resources and responsibilities to achieve agency goals.

Lead teams in planning and executing critical projects.

Measure and report on the effectiveness of internal and external processes.

Collaborate with the management team to strengthen operational infrastructure.

Expectations

Full-time staff members are required to attend their designated work site from Monday to Friday, typically, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Core working hours may be subject to change based on the specific role and requirements of the programs.

Participates effectively as a team member through communication, cooperation, information sharing, and problem-solving.

Attends and participates in staff training, meetings, activities, and programs as required.

Utilizes common software and digital applications (Microsoft Office suite, Outlook, Teams, timekeeping software, etc.).

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises program/direct service staff, AmeriCorps members, interns, and volunteers as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or a related field. A Master’s degree in business administration or a related field experience in a faith-based organization is preferred.

Minimum of five years of experience in operations management, preferably in a nonprofit or social services organization.

Strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of budgeting, financial management, and grant writing.

Experience with facility management and maintenance.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

None required

Other Qualifications

Ability to successfully pass Family Care Safety Registry and criminal background checks and requires completion of the Protecting God’s Children VIRTUS training session.

Licensed to operate a motor vehicle and the ability to meet agency auto insurance coverage requirements. Local travel may be required.

Agency Identity and Mission

The work of Catholic Charities serves as an expression of the ministry of evangelization of the Roman Catholic Church by serving the poor and most vulnerable in our society. Although staff are not to proselytize, they are, however, expected to be guided in every way by the teachings of the Catholic faith in their daily work. These include church teachings on abortion, sterilization, abstinence, and the sanctity of the family as well as fidelity to the Catholic ethical religious directive of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. In addition, all staff are invited to attend periodic Catholic Masses. As employees of Catholic Charities, it is further expected that staff will adhere to the Diocesan code of conduct. Employees are expected to not only perform duties consistent with the Doctrines of the Catholic faith, but outside of the workplace they are expected to refrain from publishing any communication in any form, electronic or otherwise, that affiliates them with Catholic Charities in a manner that is inconsistent with the doctrine of the Roman Catholic faith.
