What we’re looking for:

The

Director, Materials, Warehouse, and Logistics

is responsible for the optimization and seamless execution of end-to-end supply chain and operational processes. This role will encompass the oversight of production planning, purchasing, warehouse operations and logistics, ensuring seamless coordination and efficiency across these critical components of our supply chain. The successful candidate will ensure adequate inventory levels are planned and maintained based on current and projected demand requirements by providing planning, scheduling, and inventory support to manufacturing and customer requirements.

The right candidate has business acumen and a passion for making a difference in the business. The Director, Supply Chain must have the ability to drive processes across a system, see trends and analyze data. Candidates for this role should be strong communicators who can act as catalysts for building organizational effectiveness and efficiency.

Reporting to the VP Operations for DFR, the

Director, Materials, Warehouse, and Logistics

is responsible for deploying strategic company initiatives and acting as site liaison between Manufacturing and Supply chain. Provide planning, scheduling, and inventory support to manufacturing and customer requirements, also supports company manufacturing operations through its Lean initiatives and continuous improvement initiatives. Oversees Master Scheduling, Logistics, Raw material warehouse, and Purchasing functions for a multi-site operation, responsible for a $100M+ Buy.

The candidate must have excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills. The individual should have experience in dealing with individuals at multiple levels of the organization. What you’ll be responsible for in this role:

Supervise effective daily support of production needs such as expediting material, setting priorities and addressing supply issues to facilitate availability of raw material and purchased components to support the production schedule.

Manage and monitor order rates, inventory levels, and delivery plans.

Ensure that on-time delivery is tracked, and goals are met while supporting operation to manage at lowest possible cost and inventory.

Collaborate with Production Control Manager to manage capacity requirements planning. Accountable for inventory turns and accuracy.

Lead material/inventory control & planning activities including the coordination of cycle counts and physical inventories and Receiving, Warehousing, and Shipping activities.

Manage inbound and outbound logistics team to support on-time delivery, damage-free shipments, and usage of cost-effective carriers.

Manage inventory forecasting and report on variances.

Manage the identification and disposition of excess and obsolete inventory.

Collaborate with engineering, product management and sales to drive reductions in E&O.

Responsible to ensure all warehouse operations have proper material handling equipment and resources to complete tasks on schedule and safely.

Responsible for leading projects related to Continuous Improvement and Cost reduction efforts in accordance with Plant Management goals.

Actively participate in weekly Segment/Ops meetings and provide all necessary supporting data/metrics.

Attend production and planning meetings, maintaining optimal and up-to-date key parameters on PFEP or any other Purchasing strategy.

Work closely with Customer Service, Production Control, Operations, Quality, Engineering and Sourcing to ensure products are produced and shipped per schedule.

Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

What are the basic qualifications?

Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or Business, (MBA preferred). 15+ years of experience with a diverse background (strong managerial, business, and technical education, supply chain, planning, warehousing, and logistics experience and skills)

7+ years of management experience.

What are the preferred qualifications?

Leadership experience in a complex manufacturing operating environment.

Expertise in global supply chain, planning, and logistics activities.

Must have implemented or operated within robust Sales and Operation Planning process.

Experience with ERP, MRP, WMS and TMS systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications as well as Financial Statement Analysis.

APICS or Lean/Six Sigma Certificate preferred.

Oracle experience is highly preferred.

Lean/Six Sigma experience highly preferred.

Power BI experience preferred.

KEY METRICS:

Supplier Planning: Supplier OTFP, Supplier Quality and Supplier Consignment.

Inventory: $ Inventory, Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO), Days Forward Coverage.

Warehousing: Compression %, Cycle Count %, Material Flow On time to Jobs.

Delivery: Customer Lead Time on Full, Plant Schedule Adherence.

Logistics: Freight Cost including Air, Ocean, Ground; External Warehousing Cost.

To be a great fit for the role:

Planning: Establish annual production plans based on available manufacturing capacity to meet customer demands using current operating systems.

Production Scheduling: Responsible for the development and improved execution of schedules, in collaboration with the Operations Manager and Mfg. Team Leaders, for products to be stocked at either finished or staged inventory levels. Maintain fill rate of 98% or better to positively impact on-time delivery.

Machine Scheduling: Based on analysis of production schedules, develop plant machine schedules by reviewing capacity, run times, and production needs. Achieve 98% adherence to production schedule. Provide visual systems & management to assure that production workers are aware of material flow status. Review demand requirements monthly and implement countermeasures, as required.

Inventory: Maintain inventory control of all manufactured and purchased components. Investigate and analyze work orders and inventory accuracy, implement countermeasures as required. Improve year-over-year inventory turns.

Systems Maintenance: Conduct analyses and recommend maintenance of Product Master Information, such as bill of materials, inventory levels, order points, lot sizes, etc. for the facility.

Cycle Count Reconciliation: Conduct system cycle count as approved by Corporate Accounting Department. Provide quarterly written report of cycle count results to the Operations Manager and Corporate Accounting Department.

Materials & Logistics: Work with Corporate Buyers and suppliers to ensure production supply quantities are aligned with the production schedule. Coordinate & schedule the procurement and delivery of outside operations with the Corporate Buyers to assure on-time delivery of all purchased parts, ensuring that Engineering changes are incorporated into the plan; demonstrates ability to continuously improve.

Reporting: Implement shop floor & visual management systems to provide status of material flows, Kanban, inventory levels, on time delivery, etc.

Leadership: Develop, mentor and coach employees in the accomplishments of company goals and objectives with positive attitude. Drive for results and provide focus and clarity to all team members.

Assist in developing company policies, coordinating, and planning production pertaining to forecast, promotions, service level and inventory objectives.

Lead development planning and succession planning activities.

Safety: Maintain adherence to all regulations and preventive measures.

Actively participate in SIOP meetings and provide all necessary supporting data/metrics.

Travel

TRAVEL required: up to 40%; mainly within the US, Canada and Mexico.
