Leidos is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to join our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team, who will support an extensive digital modernization program critical to Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Fourth Estate Agencies. The Senior Systems Administrator will deploy new Windows and Linux servers in Azure and provide support for maintaining and enhancing cloud infrastructure as well as the day-to-day maintenance support for troubleshooting Linux/Windows cloud systems and servers. This role requires an individual with technical expertise administering the full lifecycle of Linux and Windows platforms as code. The candidate will provide Windows engineering support to develop automations for the building and patching Linux and Windows servers via Microsoft Intune, Red Hat Satellite and Ansible Automation Platform in support of new systems being deployed in Azure. This role is responsible for interacting with product owners across multiple sprint teams and working other engineers to troubleshooting problems for multiple systems and network environments. This role analyzes recurring problems and initiates solutions for preventing reoccurrence and analyzes existing infrastructure for tuning/performance enhancements.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform best practice engineering support for an Azure Cloud environment consisting of Windows and Linux servers
  • Build, configure, patch and maintain Windows and Linux servers via IaC, Ansible Automation Platform, or other automation platforms
  • Perform application packaging, deployments, documentation, and release control utilizing Jira, GitLab, IaC, and Ansible Automation Platform
  • Provide advice, technical consultation, and guidance for Tier 3 / Tier 4 support by analyzing and resolving problems and evaluating alternative means of satisfying user requirements
  • Research, test, and deploy security patches and vulnerability remediation changes
  • Provide support for the implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of complex IT systems
  • Perform automation tasks through scripting and testing
  • Provide follow-up reports (technical findings, feedback, and resolution steps) for root causes analysis and process improvement initiatives
  • Actively identify opportunities for improvement, including innovations aimed at improving the user experience, improving efficiencies, and lowering sustainment costs
  • Enforce security best practices and guidelines, leveraging knowledge of security policies, network security, and data security

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Master's degree with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance. (US Citizenship required)
  • Experience building, configuring, patching and maintaining Windows and Linux servers
  • Understanding and experience with Azure Cloud services
  • Knowledge of basic networking and network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, SSH, VPNs)
  • Hands-on experience reviewing and analyzing system logs and events to resolve issues
  • Experience maintaining Entra ID and/or Microsoft Active Directory environments
  • Understanding of Federal Government application, server, and network security requirements such as NIST, FedRAMP, and FISMA
  • Ability to work effectively within a distributed technical team, aided by strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian suite, including Jira and Confluence
  • Ability to obtain DoD 8570 IAT Level II (or higher) Certification such as Security + or CISSP

Preferred Qualifications
  • Possess active DoD Secret clearance
  • Current IAT Level II (or higher) Certification such as Security + or CISSP
  • Experience building and delivering IaaS servers and platform via IaC
  • Experience deploying and scaling Azure Virtual Desktop environments via Azure Functions or other automation platforms
  • Experience deploying and maintaining complex virtual infrastructures with web/application tiers and data tiers
  • Experience developing and deploying Infrastructure as Code (IaC), utilizing continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools, and leveraging automation platforms such as Ansible or Azure Functions
  • Recognized cloud certification such as Azure Administrator

Pay Range: Pay Range $81,250.00 - $146,875.00
