We are seeking an experienced professional to assist our collection efforts and to address the growth of our delinquent accounts receivable portfolio. The successful candidate understands the accounts receivable and collections processes for a large law firm and is well versed in determining appropriate accounts for collections.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze firm aged receivables, identifying trends and risks on a client and portfolio basis
  • Maintain effective communication with clients to resolve payment issues and negotiate payment plans when necessary
  • Escalate significant unpaid receivables to the Office of the General Counsel and act as primary point of contact for the Finance Department to work with the General Counsel on resolution of these accounts
  • Prepare regular collections reports and present them to senior management to assess firm collection performances and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborate effectively with members and legal teams, firm management and administrative colleagues, and colleagues and management in finance, to identify invoices at risk of nonpayment and work on timely recovery of the firm's outstanding receivables
  • Recommend and promote adoption of collections technologies to enhance the firm's overall billing and collections process, outcomes, and satisfaction of members and clients


Qualifications:

This position requires an ability to accurately review contracts, summarize key factors and identify problematic accounts with limited supervision.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in collections at a law firm, with at least 3 years in firm wide collections management role
  • Expert in Aderant and Expert Collections. Aderant SQL report writing is preferred but not required
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, information technology, or related field (master's degree or MBA preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in achieving measurable collections results
  • Strong business acumen, analytical and negotiation skills
  • Seasoned professional with prior collection management experience in high volume/dollar, automated, professional environment/law firm
  • Skilled manager of people and processes to achieve maximum results
  • Strong leadership, analytical and negotiations skills required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Customer service focused


The primary location for this job posting is in San Francisco, but other locations may be listed. The actual base pay offered will depend upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to the selected candidate's qualifications, years of relevant experience, level of education, professional certifications and licenses, and work location. The anticipated pay range for this position is as follows:

San Francisco and Silicon Valley: $131,750 - $178,250 per year

Austin, Boston, Boulder, District of Columbia, Los Angeles, New York, San Diego, Seattle, and Wilmington: $119,000 - $161,000 per year

Salt Lake City and all other locations: $105,400 - $142,600 per year

The compensation for this position may include a discretionary year-end merit bonus based on performance. We offer a highly competitive salary and benefits package.
