The Storage Simulation team builds our SSD simulator which runs firmware, analyzes and produces insights, and profiles realistic workloads over many thousands of cores. We are a high-pace and high-functioning team of FW engineers, Backend engineers, and Data Scientists that use the latest simulation technologies to tackle complex, large-scale problems. We work collaboratively to make an impact that changes people's lives.DescriptionAs a key member of our team, you will lead the design and development of our advanced storage simulation, enhancing its integration with the storage subsystem. You will utilize state-of-the-art cloud computing, sophisticated data analytics, and powerful visualization tools to advance our SSD technologies. Collaborating with the SSD firmware team, backend team, and the drivers and applications teams, you will tackle time-critical, complex challenges. Your efforts will transform complex data into actionable insights, significantly boosting the efficiency and performance of Apple’s storage solutions.Minimum QualificationsBS in Computer Engineering/Computer Science/Physics/Mathematics or equivalent experience/skillsExpert level C/C++ programming/debugging skillsDeep knowledge of data structures and algorithmsSource Control Management with svn or gitExcellent written, verbal, and data communication skillsPreferred QualificationsMasters/PhD in Computer Engineering/Computer Science/Physics/Mathematics or equivalent experience/skillsSolid understanding of SSD software architecture and FW (e.g. NAND flash commands and media management algorithms)Experience programming in Python in a professional settingExperience with applying cloud processing technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, AWS)Experience with data processing and visualization toolsHighly organized, creative, motivated, and passionate about achieving resultsCurious and have excellent analytical and problem-solving skillsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
